During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

  • 5/5 from Estelle, attended Jun 2026: Frankie was very personable and really helped explain and build my confidence. I learned how to install a zipper which was my request. • 5/5 from Jane Ranasinghe, attended Mar 2025: Had a wonderful session with Chloe who helped show me how the sewing machine worked and how to use all its functionality. I decided to buy a machine there and then as I felt confident to start using it. I had a friend with me as a plus one who is an experienced sewer and Chloe showed her some really useful advanced tips. We both really enjoyed it.
  • 5/5 from Angela Wickenden, attended Feb 2025: Chloe was very welcoming which calmed my nervousness from the off, she teaches with great knowledge and confidence, being a total novice myself to a sewing machine Chloe took me through every part of the the machine explaining in layman's terms and not baffling me in term which i have no knowledge off, we wound a bobbin thread the machine and she gave me lots of advice and techniques and allowed me to ask many questions in which she was fully capable of answering. We went through some basic stitches reminding me of the do's and don't's teaching me the reverse stitch while explaining how to control the foot pedal, I took up my first hem in which I learnt how to use the guides and with great encouragement managed to do very well for a newbie. I came away feeling very confident and proud of the new skills in which I had learnt, I look forward to moving forward with my sewing whilst reassured in the knowledge that if I have any problems with anything including the machine and repairs I can rely on hobbie craft and your great team for all my needs. Many thanks to Chloe again it was lovely meeting you and an absolute pleasure. Yours thankfully Angela Wickenden.

The lesson was very relaxed and Chloe was a great teacher. I will definitely book another session in the New Year.

She made the nuts and bolts of the machine seem interesting and had good tips on what stitches to use on what type of material. She also asked what projects I had in mind and was very helpful regarding creating patterns from scratch, but also showed me the patterns in store (sadly none of which were large enough but that is just stock issues rather than an issue with the workshop). I will be booking another workshop.
