What is Chinese Seal Carving?
Chinese Seal Carving, known as Zhuànkè (篆刻), is a traditional Chinese art form that involves carving a design into the bottom of a seal. It is a unique craft that combines the beauty of ancient Seal Script calligraphy (篆书) with the skill of sculpture.
In East Asian tradition, the ultimate way to sign your name is not with a pen, but with a personal seal.
For centuries, this one-of-a-kind, hand-carved mark has been the artist's ultimate signature.
