Join us for a relaxed and beginner-friendly life drawing session every Thursday!

2 hours

Class size 1 to 60 (public classes), 1 to 50
  £19

Join us Thursday nights in the heart of London for relaxed and friendly life drawing with Soho Life Drawing! Featuring a different model each week, Soho Life Drawing offers a great space to relax and unwind in the historic Westminster Quaker Meeting House just a stone's throw from Trafalgar Square. The first hour is guided, and all materials are provided on site--so no worries if you've never tried life drawing before--you'll be in great hands!
Our members come from literally all walks of life and from all skill levels, so don't be afraid to drop by if you're an absolute beginner. At this life drawing class, you are guaranteed to find a non-judgmental place to explore your artistic abilities. Just drop-in!
We begin each session with short, gestural poses and move up to longer sustained poses. Our models are personally vetted professionals, and some of the best in the business. Our guided class is a great way to get into the swing of things and learn how artists use short and long poses in life drawing to build up to a finished work. The following class allows members to continue to expand their drawing abilities with longer poses, and for beginners to get more one-on-one attention (should they wish) and more time for input at the end of the class.
All supplies (A3 clipboards, graded pencils, sharpeners, rubbers, pastels, graphite etc...) are free to borrow with the exception of paper, which is 15p/sheet (A3). A4 notebooks are available for £3.50 and A3 notebooks for £4.50.
We also provide tea and biscuits during the break to keep your energy up! We break for 10 minutes after the first hour.

  • 5/5 from Lisa Bliedtner, attended Mar 2026: Friendly relaxed atmosphere for a more focus-intense activity than expected. Thanks for having us! :)
  • 5/5 from Peter Schofield, attended Feb 2026: Amazing mix of v serious and not so serious artists - with surprisingly helpful tips from Anna although she is mostly quiet and just lets everyone get on with drawing. Rapid sequence of poses at the start very helpful for developing quick drawing skills - but not easy! HIghly recommend
  • 5/5 from Maria Olivia Culotta, attended Feb 2026: Lovely class. Really enjoyed it
  • 5/5 from Nina Glynn, attended Jan 2026: Absolutely brilliant experience. Very calm, professional and helpful
  • 4/5 from Venita Dabhi, attended Nov 2025: We received verbal feedback, advised on how to capture the former shape of the model, with simple shapes and lines - c, s, v, to measure the proportion of the body parts, and to capture the light and shading. The timing to complete the drawings are based on 2min, 5min, 10min so on over the course of two hours, to capture details we miss earlier on. Happy to work in a peaceful class, no music needed. Able to view others work which was a pleasure too. I drew multiple images on the same paper and see how the poses developed on the page.
  • 5/5 from Oxana Inkina, attended Sep 2025: Great workshop and very calm atmosphere, the teachers are supportive and happy to help
  • 5/5 from Sasha Karabasova, attended Aug 2025: A little difficult to find from the google maps location, but the class was very good. People were focused and welcoming.
  • 5/5 from Oxana Inkina, attended Jul 2025: Relaxing atmosphere and a welcoming teacher, would come again. As someone who hasn’t done life drawing before it felt easy to get into the rhythm and get practicing
  • 5/5 from Oxana Inkina, attended Jul 2025: The teacher was great and offered tips at the beginning and welcomed anyone to come up to speak to her. I enjoyed the calm environment throughout the class and would return for another session.
  • 4/5 from Louise Spurgeon, attended Feb 2025: I enjoyed it, I am not very good at drawing but I found the experience relaxing. I hope to do more of it. Thank you
  • 5/5 from Askar, attended Oct 2024: The instructor was amazing—full of energy and shared great tips throughout the class! The poses were engaging and occasionally challenging, which I really enjoyed. I appreciated how the teacher offered small tips during the life drawing session. She was incredibly approachable, and I even got the chance to ask for advice on some personal challenges with life drawing. Not only did she offer her guidance openly, but she also demonstrated the dos and don'ts right on the spot, which was incredibly helpful. The atmosphere of the class was fantastic. Another thing I personally loved was that all the materials—there was a great variety of them—plus tea, coffee, and biscuits were included in the very reasonable £15 fee! This is such a refreshing change compared to other life drawing classes, where you might pay nearly £30 just for a spot and some subpar supplies, along with advice from someone who may not even be a professional. Honestly, I don't think you’ll find a more organized, professional, and welcoming class than this one. I dare you to try!

I started Soho Life Drawing in 2018 after working professionally as an artist for several years when I realised that there was a lack of accessible and affordable creative outlets for non-artist adults in London. Since then I've run hundreds of classes both at my weekly drop-in class in Leicester Square; for corporations and animation studios including Buzzfeed, Liberty London, and Sharkmob; and universities such as the University of the Arts London. Privately, I teach professional artists who come to me for technical training.
As an artist, I've been exhibited internationally in both solo and group shows and have won several residencies--the most recent being Espronceda's 2020 Open Call. I was a shortlisted contestant on 2016's Sky Landscape Artist of the Year. I exhibit regularly with the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolours on Pall Mall, as well as with the Society of Women Artists. While I've focussed on teaching in recent years, I still do some commissioned work and exhibit with galleries representing me. I have a Masters in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art and Design.
I love teaching art because I believe anyone can do it with the right training! In particular, I'm passionate about breaking down the internal barriers people not trained in art have about being creative. Creativity is important for so many reasons, beyond the finished product, and it's my goal to make my classes both extremely accessible and very affordable so that people from all walks of life have a chance to join.
