Beginner's Kintsugi Workshop

Learn to repair broken ceramics with the beautiful kintsugi method.

2 hours Class size 15 to 30 guests       £65

In this kintsugi workshop in London, you’ll learn both the practical techniques of kintsugi and the wider philosophy of wabi-sabi -- embracing imperfection, impermanence, and the beauty found in age and repair. The session is skill-focused and designed to give you the confidence to continue repairing your own ceramic pieces independently at home!
This workshop is accessible and thoughtfully paced, with clear guidance throughout. No prior experience is needed, and the emphasis is on learning, focus, and mindful making rather than rushing to a perfect finish.
What to expect:
  • An introduction to the principles of kintsugi and wabi-sabi.
  • Learn hands-on ceramic repair techniques with visible seams.
  • Step-by-step guidance to build confidence and practical skill.
  • A calm, focused session centred on craft and philosophy.
  • Skills you can later apply to your own ceramics at home.
Workshops are held in central London and in CRATE brewery for larger group or corporate bookings. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of kintsugi, practical repair skills, and a renewed appreciation for objects that carry their history proudly rather than hiding it.
What you'll get
  • All materials are provided, including pre selected ceramic pieces, traditional and contemporary kintsugi materials, specialist tools, and full guidance throughout the session.
  • Each participant completes a repair on a supplied ceramic object.

  • 5/5 from Amie Lewis, attended Nov 2022: Jurga (our instructor) was really great, she set the tone for a really relaxing and enriching class. The history of the artform was set out for us before we started which added great context, the fit to our team building was timely. We all love the pots we made and proudly took them home. I highly recommend this class.

  • 5/5 from Tammy Harman, attended Sep 2022: Alice was an amazing teacher in a really novel venue. She really took her time to explain everything about the kintsugi process, and even included a mini history on how it came into being as an art form. She was very patient and knowledgeable, and even if we made mistakes she was great at providing the solutions. All the materials we needed were provided, which made me feel confident in her, and also in the idea that kintsugi is a craft I could pick up again at home. Including lunch or dinner with the class is a great idea. Do stick around for the pizza and beer - it was very tasty!

  • 4/5 from Pascal Rez, attended May 2022: It was fun to learn the art of Kintsugi and got to take away a nice bowl to remember the experience by. It could have had some info about the meaning behind why Kintsugi is important in Japan with some examples of different pieces. The space was a bit cosy for activity. Overall, it was a good and a new art form to try.
  • 5/5 from Amy Regul, attended Apr 2022: Had a great time in the workshop, teacher was friendly and informative. I was able to create something very nice with her help!
