Pottery Throwing Experience for Two: Private Home Workshop

Share the joy of clay and learn a brand-new skill together, right from the comfort of your own home!

2 hours Class size 2 guests       £105 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Discover the magic of the pottery wheel in this fun, relaxed, home-based beginner’s throwing experience for two. Perfect for complete beginners with absolutely no prior experience, this hands-on workshop brings the entire pottery studio directly to you. Whether you are planning a creative day with a friend, a fun date night at home, a sibling hangout, or a mother-daughter treat, this private session is the perfect way to try something new together.
Unlike a busy studio class where you might feel rushed, practising in your own space is completely comfortable and pressure-free. Because this is a private experience using one tabletop wheel, you will take turns throwing. This setup makes the session beautifully interactive—you can cheer each other on, capture the perfect photos, and enjoy the mindful process while your partner creates. It also means you both get 100% of your instructor's dedicated guidance when it is your turn on the wheel!
Together, you will learn the absolute basics of wheel throwing, guided step-by-step through the core techniques. We will show you how to centre your clay, master the art of pulling up the walls, and shape your pieces. You will both focus on creating foundational forms like classic cylinders and bowls. No previous experience is needed at all—just bring your curiosity, a willing pair of hands, and a space at home to share a wonderfully creative experience together!
Perfect for:
  • Friendly Catch-ups: A unique alternative to catching up over coffee
  • Family Bonding: Perfect for parent-child days, sibling activities, or unique gifts
  • Memorable Dates: A relaxed, hands-on, and screen-free evening at home
  • Special Celebrations: Mark a birthday or anniversary by learning a new skill together.
Please note:
  • We bring the pottery studio to you! Our pricing is fully inclusive of mobile studio setup, heavy equipment transport, and the dual-firing process of your finished ceramic pieces within 15 miles of Wallington.
  • Although you will practise creating many forms during the session, the price includes the firing of two pieces per person. You are welcome to request the firing of additional pieces for an extra £5 per piece.
  • Venue requirements: As this is a mobile workshop, the host is responsible for providing a suitable space. You will need enough room to sit comfortably and work, as well as space for the teacher to demonstrate techniques. A small dining table will be suitable.
  • Arrival and set-up: The teacher will arrive in good time and be ready to start the workshop promptly at the scheduled start time. The host should ensure that the venue is accessible and ready for set-up at least 20 minutes before the workshop is due to begin, with the required space clear and available for the teacher to prepare.
  • Please consider the flooring: Working with clay can be messy, so a venue with hard flooring is recommended. If the space has carpet or other flooring that could be damaged, please ensure it is adequately protected before the workshop begins.
What you'll get
  • All equipment and materials are provided – just show up ready to create.
  • After the workshop, your pottery will be fired twice: first to harden it, then glazed and fired again to finish. Allow up to 4 weeks for your pieces to be ready.
  • Collection and delivery: You'll be notified when your pieces are ready. Collect from our designated point at no extra charge, or we can post them to you via tracked mail for an additional delivery fee.
  • A note about ceramics: Your pieces are made from natural materials, and the firing process can be unpredictable. Pieces may occasionally crack, warp, or show colour variations from the samples. Pieces unsuitable for food use due to construction issues aren't eligible for refund. If your piece is damaged during firing or transport, a £5 refund per piece will be offered. The class fee itself is non-refundable.

I’m a potter, artist and teacher with a real passion for sharing the joy of pottery with others.
My love of pottery grew from a fascination with making things by hand. I love the combination of creativity and technical skill it requires — there is always something new to learn, experiment with and improve.
I’ve been teaching for 14 years, working with hundreds of students of all ages and abilities. From complete beginners taking their first creative steps to more experienced students developing their skills, I love helping people grow in confidence. I’m especially proud that some of my students have gone on to pursue careers in the creative industries.
For me, teaching is about much more than showing someone how to make a pot. I love creating a relaxed, welcoming environment where everyone feels comfortable having a go, making mistakes and discovering what they can do. I especially enjoy helping people find their “inner artist” — even those who arrive convinced they aren’t creative!
I bring both my teaching experience and technical knowledge of ceramics to every workshop, explaining the why as well as the how. Whether you’re learning to centre and throw on the wheel, exploring hand-building techniques or experimenting with decoration, I’ll help you develop your skills while having fun along the way.
You don’t need to consider yourself an artist or have any previous experience. Come along, get your hands muddy, have a go and see what you can create!
