Beginner Modern Calligraphy Course

Join Kirstie from Ink and Flow for a 4-week beginner calligraphy course, learning the basics of Modern Calligraphy. This course will give you all the confidence you need to move forward and create beautiful calligraphy creations to share with your friends and family!Each session will be held via Zoom and will be fun and friendly, leaving you inspired and motivated to practise in your own time ahead of the next session!The course is recorded and emailed over the following morning, so if you can’t make the sessions live, you can catch up in your own time.Course StructureThe course is broken down into 4 workshops detailed below:Week 1: Tuesday, 15th September, 7 – 9pm

• The Basics
• The journey starts right here! In this first workshop, Kirstie will talk you through your kit, explain and show you how to use the equipment, and get you going on warm-up exercises before moving onto capital letters.

Week 2: Tuesday, 22nd September, 7 – 9pm

• Lowercase Letters & Joining Techniques
• You will start to have fun with lowercase letters and connecting letters and words together. Kirstie will help you tackle tricky transitions and will help with any questions you might have at this stage on your calligraphy journey.

Week 3: Tuesday, 29th September, 7 – 9pm

• Adding Shape to Words & Flourishing
• Now you have had practice with your words and connecting letters together, Kirstie will teach you how to start thinking about adding shape in your words by creating ‘bounce’ and flourishing your entry and exit strokes. Let the magic happen!

Week 4: Tuesday, 6th October, 7 – 9pm

• Design Hierarchy & Composition, Cards, Tags, and Metallic Inks
• In the final workshop of the course, you will have fun learning to design and create beautiful gift tags and cards, working with hierarchy and putting it all together with metallic ink.

Private Facebook Group AccessAccess to a private Facebook group with fellow students and the opportunity to share images of your work and, of course, ask Kirstie and each other questions as you move through the course.1-2-1 FeedbackThroughout the course, Kirstie will be on hand via the private Facebook group (or via email if you don’t have Facebook) to answer any questions you may have. There will also be time for a Q&A at the end of each workshop, as well as ample opportunity to ask questions during each workshop.What Else Do I Need?In addition to the kit included, you will need the following:A pencilIf booking without a kit, please send Kirstie an email with what you have so she can check you have the correct equipment.
