Meet Tea Host

With over 30 years of experience in Chinese tea, Yang and Yiqing bring both depth of knowledge and lived connection to every ceremony. This husband-and-wife team also owns a tea farm in Yunnan, China, where the relationship between land, seasonality, and flavour is understood firsthand.

Guiding guests through each step and tasting is not only a teaching practice, but also a personal one: a way to stay close to their roots, and to keep that cultural thread alive through something as simple (and profound) as a cup of tea.

Join this traditional Chinese tea ceremony in Greenwich and discover the calm, guided art of gongfu brewing. Over 90 minutes, you’ll explore the depth of premium Chinese teas in a session that's both educational and deeply relaxing.
Guided by experts with over 30 years of experience, you'll be introduced to the quiet philosophy and etiquette of a practice that dates back centuries. You'll taste three distinct premium teas, carefully selected to showcase a variety of styles and characters. Rather than a simple tasting, this experience focuses on the intentional method of gongfu, using small teaware and short, repeated infusions to see how the leaves evolve with every pour.
During the workshop, you will:
  • Taste three premium Chinese teas – Learn to identify differences in aroma, texture, and aftertaste.
  • Master gongfu brewing – Understand the practical cues that matter, from leaf-to-water ratios and temperature to timing.
  • Pair tea with traditional treats – Enjoy two different Chinese pastries chosen to perfectly complement your tea selection.
  • Adjust your brew – Learn how to fix tea that's too bitter or light so you can repeat the process perfectly at home.
This experience is designed for anyone looking to switch off and connect with a beautiful cultural tradition. Whether you're a complete beginner or a regular tea drinker, you'll find the environment supportive and low-pressure. You'll be learning from Yang and Yiqing, a husband-and-wife team who even own their own tea farm in Yunnan, ensuring every insight comes from a place of genuine passion and expertise.
You'll finish the session feeling inspired and knowledgeable, ready to bring a moment of mindfulness into your daily routine. You’ll leave with the confidence to brew with intention and a newfound appreciation for the artistry behind every cup.

We are Yiqing and Yang, Chinese tea and incense lovers for over 30 years. We established an Asian culture centre - Amitabha Garden, in 2014 by the Thames riverside. We want to share our passion for chemical-free Chinese incense made by ourselves and authentic Chinese tea from our own tea field with Westerners.
Amitabha Garden grew out of traditional Chinese culture and Buddhist philosophy. What began as a small tea space gradually became a cultural home for Chinese tea, traditional arts, and mindful living. Today, our riverside space in Greenwich hosts Chinese tea ceremonies, incense journeys, cultural workshops, and contemplative gatherings inspired by Buddhism, Chinese philosophy, and literati culture. We work with carefully sourced teas, incense, and objects, chosen for their provenance, craftsmanship, and the stories they carry.
