One-to-one Sewing Workshop

Join us in store and talk to a craft expert for tips and advice on your sewing machine or project!

1 hour Class size 1 on 1       £28

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

  • 5/5 from Kayne Hedley, attended Jul 2025: If anyone asks me anything about sewing or sewing machines I will tell them.... book yourself in at HobbyCraft and you will learn everything you want to know! I had an hour with Annette who I can only describe as a sewing wizard mastermind who just had an incredible amount of knowledge and experience in sewing. Annette explained everything to me, a beginner with ease and patience. She wrote everything down for me and was able to make it really enjoyable at the same time. I had absolutely no confidence before but after my hour with Annette, I went home and showed my mum how to do a button hole! I will definitely go back again once I've tried some of the techniques myself. This is a fantastic present idea for people. A masterclass in sewing is really enjoyable.

The venue was OK, well lit and plenty of workspace. I was shown the different stitching programme, feeding the threads and how to use the different accessories. I had a go the feeding the thread, which was tricky at first but, with practise it shall because easy to do. What I liked most was the fact that how my teacher put me at ease by explaining how everything worked and using the actual machine, I feel now more confident. I am also able to book another session if I need more help. Being a beginner, the session was definitely good value for money to put me at ease so I can enjoy my new hobby.
