Discover Woodworking Workshop - Make Your Own Chopsticks

Discover woodworking and make a set of chopsticks with the Yes Make team.

2 hours Class size 1 to 8 guests       £49 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Take part in a woodworking workshop led by the team at Yes Make. This session is a great opportunity to learn the basics of woodworking.
The workshop starts with an introduction to Yes Make, a sustainable craft space, and your teacher for the day.
Firstly, you will learn about the materials and tools you'll be working with. All the wood used at Yes Make is reclaimed from across London. For this workshop, you will be using reclaimed mahogany from Smithfield Market. The origin of the wood used in each workshop is always shared, giving you a deeper appreciation of the materials.
With the basics covered, it's time to start making your chopsticks. You'll make four sets, with the team on hand to offer advice and demonstrate techniques for shaping and refining your pieces.
Finally, you'll focus on finishing your chopsticks, learning how to sand and polish them for a smooth finish.
In the end, you'll have new skills and a set of handmade chopsticks to take home!

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 4 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.
What you'll get
Four sets of chopsticks to take home, an understanding of woodworking and using reclaimed materials.

Yes Make is a team of designer-makers focused on creating beautiful and interesting public spaces across London using reclaimed and rescued wood. Using reclaimed wood the team can offer workshops and courses to use the materials and turn materials that would otherwise be considered waste into something new and creative.
Yes Make was founded by Joel, a skilled woodworker with over 20 years' experience, continuing a family tradition that spans four generations. Yes Make is an initiative that transforms London's fallen trees - up to 10, 000 a year - into practical and meaningful items for the community.
Located in a community garden, Yes Make provides a welcoming space where participants can learn essential woodworking techniques, work with high quality reclaimed wood and contribute to projects that give back to the community. Joel and his team are committed to making woodworking accessible, sustainable and impactful.
