What you'll do
Forge your own wizarding wand in this half-day forging workshop in London and create something you'll genuinely treasure. You'll work with a 10mm steel bar, heating it to over 1000 degrees in the forge, then shaping it with a hammer and anvil to bring your wand to life. Using a Dremel and a twisting jig, you'll add those subtle details that make it unique, before straightening, polishing, and finishing to create a piece that's both beautiful and built to last.You'll have three classic designs to choose from – a Rubik's Twist Handle, Double Twist Handle, or Full Length Twist wand – or if you have your own design in mind, we'll do our best to make it a reality. Each wand will be entirely hand-forged, measuring around 27–30cm, with a safely rounded tip and a polished shine that still shows all the hammer marks from its forging journey. That's the real beauty of making something this way – you can see exactly where you've shaped it, and it becomes a genuine keepsake that tells the story of how you made it.By the end of the session, you'll walk away with a one-of-a-kind handcrafted wand that's uniquely yours, complete with the knowledge of how to work with fire, metal, and real blacksmithing skill.Please note
- Morning sessions will typically start at 0930. Afternoon sessions will typically start at 1400. The course should last around 3–3.5 hrs.
- Due to space and safety issues, spectators are not permitted on these courses.
- For the Introduction to Blacksmithing and other non-blade courses, the age limit is 14+, provided a parent or guardian is also booked on the same course; otherwise, this limit is also 18+. Upon occasion, we will accept younger candidates onto this course, but this is by prior approval and assessment of individual capabilities and ability to follow safety instructions. Knowledge required
Beginner-friendly, no prior experience is necessary. However, some use of a hammer is required; hence, participants should be capable of physical effort.
