Wood Furniture Design Course

Learn how to create your very own piece of furniture in London.

2 x 7 hours Class size 1 to 6 guests       £275

Explore some DIY and woodworking skills with your experienced teacher. No worries if you're a beginner or an improver looking to expand your skills, everyone is welcome to come and make their own piece of furniture.
During these two-day wood workshops, you'll be working in a safe and friendly environment using planed timber and plywood. Andrew will guide you through effective construction techniques, helping you build confidence using different tools and materials.
You get a choice of what kind of wood project you'd like to craft. Our classes usually focus on designs such as the 'Crate' or 'Sedia' chairs. All the materials you need to make one basic item is provided. If you fancy a challenge, you can make a second item, but you will need to purchase materials for this.
In this craft course, you will consider the highly inventive techniques in Enzo Mari's AutoProgettzione and Rietveld's crate series. These can both be adapted to all sorts of personal projects and will act as a foundation for any future DIY projects you undertake. This course is a real must do in London for all the creatives out there who would love to try something new.
Please note: The stated class duration includes a one-hour break for lunch.

  • 5/5 from Jay Yang, attended Dec 2024: Fantastic 2-day course that left me inspired and feeling confident enough to build my own Enzo Mari furniture, and perhaps start on designs of my own. The course was thoroughly taught by Andrew who covered the basics from types of wood to tools. I really enjoyed the emphasis on quality and craft, and the small class size meant that we got to handle every aspect of the build. We all also had quite a few options in the projects we could choose to build.

  • 5/5 from Rhea Dillon, attended Jul 2023: I think this course was great value for money and I really enjoyed making my chair alongside the group. 4 people in the class was a great number to allow the teacher to get round to us all. Thank you so much for the help.
  • 4/5 from Sacha Rae, attended Nov 2022: Lots of useful info, got to practise every step of the way with a good balance of guidance and independence. Unfortunately you do not get to design your own furniture piece, you select one of a few designs that have been pre-selected by the teacher. But we had a small group so he was able to help us customise them quite a lot.
