Intensive Porcelain Course, Level 2

Build on your wheel skills with this porcelain throwing course in London, a five-day intensive dedicated to working with porcelain. Across five consecutive sessions, you'll focus on control, thin walls, form and refinement, and gain the confidence to throw more delicate, elegant pieces.Porcelain is prized for its translucency, strength and smooth surface. It rewards a light touch and careful technique, which is exactly what this week is about. The course is designed for those with some throwing experience, and your experienced teachers will give demonstrations, hands-on guidance and individual feedback throughout.What you'll explore:

• Control and precision: develop a lighter, more sensitive touch on the wheel and learn to throw consistently with a softer, more fluid clay
• Refining forms: make elegant functional pieces while practising techniques for thinner walls, cleaner profiles and better proportions
• Drying and finishing: learn how to handle porcelain at each stage of making, with guidance on trimming, drying and avoiding cracking and warping

Classes are capped at 12 participants, so you'll get plenty of one-on-one support and time at the wheel. Each session is focused on technique, and the skills you pick up will carry into your own practice once the course ends.Up to one bag of porcelain per person is included, and you can take it away at the end of the week to keep practising at home or in your own studio.Please note: this course runs over five consecutive days, from Monday 26 to Friday 30 October, 10am – 1pm each day. As it's a condensed course with a lot of hands-on time, please arrive promptly for every session. To create your own pieces with expert instruction in porcelain. A maximum of 3kgs of works can be kept, which can be taken at the greenware stage to fire in your own studio, or an additional session of glazing can be purchased alongside. Read more details
