2 hours Class size 5 to 50 guests   £45

Join this immersive online botanical dyeing workshop demonstration and discover how to transform everyday food waste and locally accessible foraged plants into beautiful, natural, bright-lasting colours for textiles. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to deepen your skills, this session offers a hands-on, creative journey into the world of sustainable dyeing — all from the comfort of your home.
Using accessible surplus food everyday food ingredients like onion skins, avocado stones, rosemary, etc, and some plant material gathered from nearby parks and gardens plus a few less popular dyestuffs, you’ll learn how to correctly prepare and extract dyes, experiment with colour variations, and apply them to natural fabrics for long lasting wash and light fastness. Each step of the dyeing process is shown in real time, ensuring you feel supported and confident when you create your own unique samples or projects.
Together, we’ll explore the subtle alchemy of nature’s palette understanding how to work with different fibres, modifiers, and mordants to achieve lasting results. You’ll also gain practical insight into ethical foraging, mindful making, and reducing household waste through creative reuse.
This workshop is as much about connection as it is about craft: connecting to nature, to your surroundings, and to the meditative rhythm of slow, purposeful creativity. By the end of the session, you’ll have a collection of beautifully dyed samples and a deeper appreciation for the colours hidden in everyday ingredients — ready to inspire future projects and experiments on your own, at your own pace.

  • 5/5 from Marité Santec, attended Oct 2025: I have done some natural dyeing experiments on fabrics before but was never sure how to get strong, bright colours and I feel this teacher could really explain how to do so. She was very resourceful, fun to learn with and good at giving expert tips. I didn’t think I could get so much from an online class! Thanks so much, Renata!
  • 5/5 from Lucia Miglietta, attended Oct 2025: This online workshop was super nice! Renata was great at showing me every step from preparing fibers to natural dyeing with things I had in my garden and was very patient. She also answered all my questions on how to set up a home studio in a small space and encouraged me to keep doing it on my own. I’d highly reccommend this class!
  • 5/5 from Grace O., attended Oct 2025: I really enjoyed this workshop with Ren. I learnt a lot about dyeing with food waste on hand, using what otherwise ends up in the waste in my house and experimenting with the process and what suprising colours arise! I've been able to get started right away from home

I'm a visual artist and arts educator working with natural colour, textiles, clay, seeds, and flowers I gather myself. Since 2018, I've been designing and leading sustainable, hands-on workshops and mindful sessions for all kinds of groups: corporate teams looking for something genuinely different and engaging, hen parties wanting a fun creative afternoon, and people who just love making things and learning about plant dyes and fibres.
My sessions are grounded in mental health and well-being. I create spaces for play, fun and connection, where there's no right or wrong, just the pleasure of making something with your hands that you can take home at the end of the workshop.
Based in Wapping, I'm also happy to travel to your venue. Available for private bookings, team-building events, hen dos, and more.
