I'm Beth and I run Studio Swade, an upholstery business based in Wood Green.

I was a footwear designer for many years, and got more and more frustrated by how much was being done on the computer and how little I was actually making. As with so many of us the pandemic kicked me up the butt and made me do something, I started an upholstery course that I absolutely loved, which lead me to doing the AMUSF (Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishings) diploma, and packing in the footwear design job!

I find so much pleasure and satisfaction from making and Iove being able to make something from scraps of fabric!
