I'm Beth and I run Studio Swade, an upholstery business based in Wood Green. I was a footwear designer for many years, and got more and more frustrated by how much was being done on the computer and how little I was actually making. As with so many of us the pandemic kicked me up the butt and made me do something, I started an upholstery course that I absolutely loved, which lead me to doing the AMUSF (Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishings) diploma, and packing in the footwear design job!I find so much pleasure and satisfaction from making and Iove being able to make something from scraps of fabric!
