What you'll do

This virtual wine tasting is the best excuse to indulge in your favourite drink! Sip on six sumptuous sample bottles and come away with a new appreciation for this sophisticated beverage.

Hosted by a friendly and qualified WSET wine expert, you will enjoy the fragrant aromas of each sample in your tasting box. There will be classic reds, crisp whites and delicate rosés to tempt your tastebuds, each with unique and individual flavours and nuances for you to discover.

But it's not all about what you taste! You will also explore what makes wine so great as you get in-depth knowledge of its history and making processes. Learn everything you always wanted to know about tasting the best wines, and you might even come away with a new favourite you need to stock up on.

To join in the online wine tasting, all you need is your six sample bottles, which will be delivered right to your door ahead of time, and to join in on the zoom call. There is enough vino for two people to enjoy, making it a great gift experience for couples or a fun thing to do at home for you and a pal.

Gilbert’s original degree was in chemistry, but he caught the wine bug working for Steven Spurrier for seven years in his wine empire in Paris, during which he learned a lot about French wine, food, and spending more than you earn. He progressed to teaching at l’Académie du Vin, Steven’s wine school. Fully sated with all things French, he did a year’s winemaking at Castello di Uzzano in Chianti, where he came to realise that it isn’t only the French who make good wine.

Back in England since the nineties, the Wine and Spirit Education Trust taught him about the rest of the world’s wines -- which he was selling. He passed the WSET diploma and their certified educator qualification. He judges at the International Wine Challenge, he is a member of the Association of Wine Educators, and Circle of Wine Writers, so that’s the serious side. It’s presenting he enjoys most, though, and his style has been refined, if that is the right word, by twenty years of wine education for corporate and private groups.
