Watercolour Painting Workshop

Paint your own landscapes in this watercolour art class in Ambelside.

6 hours Class size 1 to 8     label £75

Discover watercolour painting techniques and learn how to paint atmospheric landscapes with your friendly teacher Greg Howard.

This workshop is designed for students who want to progress with their watercolour skills, but even if you can paint a basic watercolour wash, you'll be absolutely fine. The techniques Greg will show you are not difficult and can be mastered with a little practice.

Bring your usual paints and brushes plus your creative spirit! If you have larger brushes, it would be helpful to bring them along. We'll provide drawing boards and watercolour paper for you to use on the day.

During the workshop, you'll have the opportunity to purchase a small range of materials at a discounted price, including paper, brushes, paints, and boards. However, we still recommend that you bring your own equipment. To keep you fuelled throughout the day, we'll provide complimentary tea and coffee plus a few biscuits!

An information pack with details and directions to the venue will be sent out a week or two before your class. If you have any questions, please reach out to your teacher.

By the end of this watercolour workshop, you'll be amazed at your progress and newfound confidence in painting atmospheric landscapes. Take home your beautiful creations and the skills you've learned to continue your artistic journey.

Please note:
This workshop space is fully accessible, with a purpose-built ramp leading up from the car park.

Hiya I'm Greg and I have worked (if you could call it that) as a professional artist for over a decade now. Over that time in addition to selling my work I have done 100's of demonstrations and workshops for art clubs and societies up and down the U.K. I have also managed to create a growing selection of online watercolour tuition videos and courses designed to help you get to grips with this wonderful but sometimes frustrating medium.

The workshops and courses I produce are created with just one thing in mind which is to help you get the results you want and have you painting confidently with the medium quickly!

I am known for being not exactly traditional in my approach to the medium and some of the techniques I use send traditionalists running for the hills screaming in revulsion but that’s why my workshops sell out every year and that’s why I get asked back to art clubs time and time again.

Simply because I provide people with techniques that get them results and take away all the confusion and needless clutter surrounding this medium so you can actually enjoy painting with watercolour rather than be constantly stressing that you are doing it wrong. I got news for you -- there is no right or wrong way… this is art!

I show people like you how to get your head out of the way and how to ditch all that ‘traditional is the only way’ crap (can I say that, oh I just did oops!) and then I show you how you can take your paintings to the next level very, very quickly!

Sound good? Great jump on board! The offerings here are added to on a regular basis so don't forget to pop back every month to see what's new.

Anyway that’s enough from me. Go have a look at what’s on offer and welcome to the watercolour revolution!
