Ụzọ Travel Group is a boutique travel company taking adventurers on small-group trips across Africa. Our 7–10 day trips move off the beaten path, curating authentic experiences that go far beyond the usual tourist trail including working directly with local artisans to learn a traditional art form by hand.On our trips to Dakar, Senegal, guests took part in traditional West African batik making and time and again, it turned out to be everyone's favourite part of the trip. So we decided to bring a piece of that experience home, for anyone who can't make the journey to Africa (yet).As well as running the travel company, I'm a batik practitioner myself, and I lead these London workshops personally. Using hand carved wooden block stamps and quality fabrics, you'll engage with this traditional art form without leaving the city. Whether you're a complete beginner or just looking for a mindful, hands-on afternoon away from the everyday, you'll learn genuine techniques rooted in West African craft and leave with a beautiful piece of hand stamped fabric to call your own. It's a wonderful way to slow down, connect with others, and bring a little bit of the continent's creative traditions into your own life.
