Traditional Vegan Greek Cooking Class

Veganise some Authentic Greek dishes with chef Nikos Gaitanos

2.5 hours Class size 1 to 6     label £75

This hands on cooking class is going to leave you hungry for more! We are flying over all the way from Athens to York with experienced vegan chef Nikos Gaitanos to give a series of classes in seriously tasty plant based cookery.

Nikos is the man behind the menus of several food venues in Greece. He also set up the first vegan cooking school in Greece and loves to take classic Mediterranean dishes and make them vegan.
For these classes we will be hosting Nikos in our purpose built home kitchen and afterwards we will sit and eat together in the garden with plenty of time for lively discussion and questions.
The group will be small and informal, so that Nikos can easily lead you step by step, with recipe instructions to take home.

Starting from scratch, in the morning session you will learn to make Souvlaki with Oyster Mushroom Gyros, Homemade Pita bread, Tzatsiki and Taramasalata (normally made with fish roe). Also on the menu, Galaktoboureko, a semolina pastry dessert.
In a second afternoon session we will be making Moussaka, and Spanakopita (Spinach pie) with pistachio Baklava, and then later early evening, Dolmadakia (stuffed vine leaves) and Greek Walnut Cake.
Just choose which class you would like to attend. This is a rare and unique opportunity to learn to create the authentic fresh flavours of Greece from the hands of this talented chef.

It's suitable for beginners, aspiring chefs and all chefs who want to incorporate the magic of Greece into their culinary repertoire.

"Painting is not unlike creative cooking; the way we arrange and combine elements on the plate is important to our sense of well-being. With painting and cooking we can enliven and enrich. The main thing is showing how to unlock the beauty of the experience for the participants. It's like the best nourishment for feeding the soul on a daily basis "
Recently she and poet husband Fynn are preparing to host international guest chefs to teach in their purpose built home kitchen.
"They will showcase not only their talents, but will share their enthusiasm for recipes and methods which are close to their hearts. Classes will be small, allowing for an intimate and authentic window into their culinary world which we can then transfer onto our own tables at home.
