Recent reviews of Terrarium Workshop

  • 5/5 from Zoe Matzko, attended Sep 2026: I came to this class with my mum on my birthday to do something a bit different than simply going to lunch together; we had such a wonderful time! I would absolutely recommend it to anyone considering it! Everything you need is provided, including a beautiful large glass terrarium jar, a selection of pebbles in various natural colours, a variety of succulents to choose from, and a huge bowl of miniature decorations such as bridges, buildings, ponds, animals, mushrooms, fences, and other cute things you can use as much of as you like. You can use as many succulents as you’d like to too, although I’d say the enclosure fits up to four. Personally I’d recommend choosing one to three of them so that you have enough room to add the dried moss and items to create your own unique miniature landscape. The class itself is incredibly relaxing and serene. It’s suitable for all skill levels; if you’re a complete beginner the process is easy to follow and isn’t a complicated make, but even if you already have experience with terrariums it is still very relaxing and enjoyable to design and create. Maria, the teacher, is absolutely lovely. I had already read reviews praising her and that was one of the main reasons I chose this class; but I can happily confirm that they were all true! She is friendly, cheerful, relaxed, patient, and genuinely helpful throughout the experience. She creates such a welcoming atmosphere and is simply a pleasure to spend time with. The small shop itself is wonderful. With relaxing music playing, bright and colourful decor, and the scent of Maria’s handmade products filling the space, it feels calm, welcoming, and inspiring. Everything is kept immaculately clean, well organised, and beautifully presented. One thing I particularly appreciated is the opportunity for flexibility on dates. You can book onto the advertised public classes here, but if there isn’t one available on a date that you would like (in this case my birthday), you can send a request for that date and if Maria has availability she may add an extra session for that day. That’s exactly what she kindly did for us. You can also pre-order food and drinks when booking. We chose a sandwich, waffle, and smoothie each. The waffles were large while still being light and fluffy. The sandwich fillings aren’t listed online because they’re made to order on the day, with options of fillings including classic favourites such as cheese, ham, tomato, lettuce, tuna mayo, and chicken. You can also choose whether you’d like your sandwich served fresh or as a toastie. Maria prepares all of the food and drinks herself and even asked whether we’d prefer them during or after the workshop. We enjoyed our smoothies while working and saved the rest for afterwards. Finally, there is a large free car park at the back, which was a pleasant surprise. I had expected only a few spaces, but it’s a proper car park with plenty of room, making it very easy to visit and, most importantly, transport our finished terrariums home safely. Overall, this was a fantastic experience from start to finish. It was relaxing, creative and welcoming. We are already planning to return for more of Maria’s workshops based on the back of this experience, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable activity.
  • 5/5 from Georgie, attended Sep 2026: I went with my daughter for the terrarium workshop and lunch on her birthday. We had a truly wonderful time. Maria explained everything very well, made us a wonderful lunch in her cosy and welcoming shop. It was so relaxed and peaceful. A true oasis away from the stresses of the world and was also highly creative. One could also pick up some hand-crafted products made by Maria. We took our creation home that is now a wonderful reminder of our time there. Thank you very much for having us and for your kindness.
  • 5/5 from Ruohan Wang, attended Aug 2026: Maria is a super nice teacher! We are absolute beginners, but leaving with two beautiful succulent terrariums.
  • 5/5 from Alice A Usachev, attended Jul 2026: Amazing. Hoping to do more plus other craftie stuff. Pleasant hostess and great meals she make. She's a heart stopper.

Handmade Fever started off with me being interested in making traditional soap! After learning to make natural handmade soap and trying it on myself and my children, I was amazed by the results! In particular, when I used the soap on my 3-year-old little boy who suffered from eczema, I noticed that the eczema disappeared! I had used all the prescribed creams and bath liquids from my GP and my local pharmacy, but they only worked for a bit, and as soon as I stopped using those products, the eczema seemed to come back with a vengeance! This is when I realized that the issue was the products that used chemicals, whether prescribed or not, and for my son who had sensitive skin, it was causing eczema. From then on, over the years, I started working on all products that I and my family could use that were all natural… from handmade perfume, deodorant, shampoo bars, and even hair conditioners and was amazed at the results. I then started making everything as I grew to love craft again! Being a teacher for 22 years, I had stopped working on my craft skills, but it came back after making soaps. And now I make everything from natural skincare, silver jewelry, knitted bags, embroidery, beaded jewelry, candles, designing t-shirts with rhinestones and even own my own Natural Skincare brand! I have a cafe and shop combined that sells everything in crafts and Handmade items and hence the name Handmade Fever and a workshop at the rear crafting all day! We are a 10 min walk away from Oakleigh Park Station (served by Great Northern trains directly into London King's Cross and Moorgate) and 15 minute walk from New Barnet Train Station. There is a Car Park at the back of the shop and parking there is FREE! :) Hope you can come to one of my workshops!
