  • 5/5 from Raluca Vulpe, attended Apr 2026: I gifted myself this class and have no regrets. Daz (I hope I got his name correctly) was extremely patient and helpful, and full of nice stories about the history of this art of making and caring for terrariums. The choice of materials was very good (caveat: total beginner here). I fully enjoyed the class and time flew by. There are some choices of drinks and some snacks, but don’t go there hungry :). I am really glad I chose to go and, time allowing, I will return for other classes with the Botanical Boys!

  • 5/5 from Clarissa Odoi, attended Jan 2026: Great workshop, attended for a hen do. Had a great time and the team were very accommodating. The venue was beautiful, great wines on offer. Theo explained and demonstrated everything really well, happy to leave with our beautiful terrariums!
  • 5/5 from Larissa Kunstel, attended Jan 2026: 4.5/5 rounded up. This was a lovely class. The venue was a little tricky to find, but asking around helped. The class itself I would recommend as a gift, the teacher was patient and explained the history of terrariums and the layers that go into them, and aftercare. We got to pick our plants, stones and gravel to make a beautiful scene, and I am proudly displaying mine at home. It was easy to get the gift card, although I was unsure of the premium options and what they would entail - maybe some photos/ sizes to explain. Also the teacher did a lot of promotion for other activities they offer, which although alright once or twice, got a bit much.
  • 5/5 from Macarena Orellana, attended Dec 2025: The teacher was amazing, we enjoyed a lot the class. Highly recommended for a group pf friends
  • 5/5 from Anna Ma, attended Dec 2025: Love the class! Came in on a Sunday in miserable weather and instantly felt such a positive and welcoming vibe after getting there. Host was very warm and welcoming. Throughout the whole session, in between learning how to make a terrarium and getting hands on with plant and soil, the host gave some really interesting history on terrarium. It was great fun!
  • 5/5 from Aldo Isidori, attended Oct 2025: This was really a very fun experience! I loved learning about the history of Terrariums, a fascinating piece of British scientific discoveries during the golden age of Darwin and friends. The Terrarium itself came out really nice, in size and composition, honestly much better than I thought: there is plenty of elements to choose from, and our teacher shared very mindful tips.
  • 5/5 from Louise Aron, attended Oct 2025: I had a great time at the botanical boys terrarium workshop. Darren was great. He taught us so much about the history and context behind terrariums and gave some good tips on how to maintain our terrariums. Great fun, would recommend.
  • 5/5 from Vaishnavi Patel, attended Sep 2025: I had such an incredible time at the terrarium-making workshop with Botanical Boys, taught by Dan! He was absolutely amazing – patient, knowledgeable, and so passionate about what he does. Not only did he teach us clever little tricks to create our own unique, personalised miniature gardens, but he also shared fascinating bits of history about terrariums, which made the experience even more special. Dan went above and beyond to make sure we all had a great experience – when I accidentally snapped the top of my terrarium, he kindly gave me a brand-new one without hesitation! He also shared brilliant tips to help keep our plants healthy and thriving long after the workshop, which gave me so much confidence. The whole session was hands-on, creative, and such a joy. I left feeling inspired, relaxed, and so proud of my little living creation. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone – whether you’re a plant lover or a complete beginner – you’ll have a wonderful time and leave with something truly beautiful.
  • 5/5 from Nicola Cappin, attended Aug 2025: I have never built or owned a Terrarium but this class was excellent. We were given some history on them, which was interesting and then guided very well through creating our own. (I think the class was lead by Darren). He was very patient and friendly and really managed so well to keep the group of 12 all progressing together. It was enjoyable to sit and see the different creative results everyone achieved. Choice of materials superb. And I was very happy with my finished product. Highly recommend this class whether you are a single looking for something on a weekend or a couple looking for a fun date. (Drinks and snacks were available to purchase for those that wanted). The space they have for creating is superb and adds to the ambiance of the activity.

RHS Chelsea Flower show Gold & Silver medalists:
The Botanical Boy started their green adventures back in 2009 while moving into East London. They renovated a water garden with no prior experience and fell in love with plants. They dove headfirst into the books and learned all they could about pruning and planting. After their first year, they were asked to join The National Garden Scheme, opened their garden to the public and learned useful tips from other fellow gardeners.
Inspired by their garden, they discovered a liking for succulent plants and container gardening in South Africa. This led them to make more and more terrariums and shared them with their friends. They soon found that everyone loved terrariums, and they started a class in their own dining room.
They love connecting people to nature and seeing their students discover their green thumbs brings the Botanical Boys so much joy and happiness. They quit their full-time jobs and started a trendy botanical shop near Kings Cross. They believe that connection to the natural world is crucial in a fast-paced world, and plants can help people slow down.
They have been featured on the BBC Great British Garden Revival, The Sunday Times, Abigal Will's The New London Garden book amongst other publications.
