Clay taking shape

Clay Taking Shape

You’ll choose a simple 3D object and begin recreating it in clay, learning how to observe shape, proportion, and detail with fresh eyes. As you build your form step by step, you’ll find your confidence growing and your hands settling into a natural, creative rhythm alongside your team.

Final touches

Final Touches

You’ll refine your clay piece by smoothing edges, adjusting proportions, and adding the small details that bring your 3D form to life. This final moment invites you to slow down, notice what your hands have created, and enjoy the satisfaction of completing your sculpture alongside your team.

Share and reflect

You’ll take a moment to look at what you’ve created, appreciating the shapes, textures, and ideas that emerged through your hands. As you share your pieces with your teammates, you’ll enjoy a relaxed sense of connection and accomplishment, ending the session on a grounded, uplifting note.

BG Sculpture Studio
BG Sculpture Studio

female Women-owned

BG Sculpture Studio grew from my lifelong relationship with making. My earliest memories of craft come from time spent in my grandfather’s forge, where I learned to respect materials, tools, and the quiet focus that comes with working by hand. That early spark eventually led me to formal training — a BA in traditional academic sculpture at the Art Academy of Latvia and an MFA at Edinburgh University — where I deepened both my technical skills and my understanding of sculpture as a way of thinking and feeling.
After years of teaching arts in schools, community programmes, and wellbeing‑focused settings, I founded BG Sculpture Studio to create the kind of space I always wished existed: calm, welcoming, and rooted in real sculptural technique. I’m passionate about teaching because clay has an extraordinary ability to surprise people. I’ve taught hundreds of students, from complete beginners to practicing artists, and I never tire of the moment someone realises, “I can actually do this.” Sculpture is both physical and meditative — clay responds to breath, attention, and emotion — and guiding people through that experience is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
At the studio, I teach a range of classes designed to meet people wherever they are in their creative journey. This includes beginners sculpture classes, life modelling sessions, and anatomical sculpture workshops for those wanting to deepen their technical understanding of the human form. I also run wellbeing‑focused sessions, such as Self‑Portrait Reflection and Unspoken Forms: Sculpting the Invisible, where participants use clay to translate feelings into shape, texture, and movement. For organisations, I offer corporate team‑building workshops, which can be held either in the studio or directly at the workplace, giving teams a chance to connect through hands‑on, mindful making.
Something many people don’t know about sculpture is how grounding it can be. It slows you down, reconnects you with your senses, and gives you permission to explore without pressure. At BG Sculpture Studio, I combine classical training with a gentle, encouraging approach so that every student leaves with new skills, confidence, and a deeper connection to their own creativity.
If you join me in the studio, you’ll find a space built on craft, care, and community — and a teacher who genuinely loves helping people discover what their hands can do.
