Slip Casting and Surface Decoration Workshop

If you're interested in decorative ceramics and would love to learn to create your own, this one-day workshop will teach you the fundamentals of slip-casting and surface decoration.You'll spend the morning learning the process of slip casting using plaster moulds to cast your own stem vase, tealight holder/pen pot or planter pot and small tealight holder/plant pot in porcelain. You will have the opportunity to cast three pieces.After a lunch break, you will then learn how to decorate your casted pieces with a variety of different surface decoration techniques using coloured slips, stains and different tools to create sgraffito, textures and patterns. You will be able to practise your designs and the shown techniques onto clay tiles before decorating your pieces. To finish you will be shown how to fettle/clean up all of your finished pieces ready to be fired for collection in the future.Don't worry if this is your first time working with ceramics, as this class is beginner-friendly with no prior knowledge needed. • Your pieces will be fired after the workshop and will be ready to collect from my studio the following week. I can post them out to you at an additional cost to cover P&P
• Lunch isn’t provided but there is a café on site or you are more than welcome to bring your own.
• Tea’s, Coffee’s and refreshments will be provided throughout the workshop.
• Aprons will be provided but wear old clothes and shoes
