One-to-one Sewing Workshop

Join us in store and talk to a craft expert for tips and advice on your sewing machine or project!

1 hour Class size 1 on 1       £28

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

My mum felt so happy that she is able to understand the settings in sewing machine, she was struggling to setup from the day we bought the machine. She also understood the multiple varieties of stitching like overlock and hookings etc..thankyou very much for your support in making her learn. Much appreciated yes it was easy to get the gift card too. It is worth for the class today. Thanks a lot
  • 5/5 from Sarah Jane Clarkson, attended Feb 2026: Cassandra was lovely. I haven’t used any sewing machine for 20 years and I wanted a refresher on the basics. I felt the pace was tailored to me and I was given really useful tips. I took in a photo of my old machine and Casandra related everything we were doing back to the controls on my own machine. I am very happy that I have what I need now to get started again.
  • 5/5 from Claire Hatch, attended Jan 2026: Really helpful, friendly - gave a lot of tips and realised I need to take a basic course first! Am booking again
  • 5/5 from Janice, attended Jan 2026: Great class and certainly value for money. I have been given my mum’s sewing machine, as she is now not able to use it, or indeed teach me, so I booked on this course as a complete beginner. My teacher was very knowledgeable and patient and we had a chuckle too. I now feel more confident and able to start to practice my new hobby. Loved it.
  • 5/5 from Julie Samson, attended Aug 2025: Eliot was brilliant. First time with overlocked and Eliot brilliant showing me how to get started.
  • 5/5 from Ellie, attended Jul 2025: I loved the whole experience. My teacher, Cass, was amazing. She was so helpful and informative and the lesson was so fun! I learned how to thread my sewing machine, learned useful tip, how to fill a bobin and tried different stitches. Cass was happy to answer all my questions and was super friendly! I was able to thread my own sewing machine later that day and ended up fixing the issues I had been having! Very happy with the service and will be back!
  • 4/5 from Sarah Flashman, attended Mar 2025: Sewing machine as a Birthday present and needed to learn how to use it. Learnt the basics and gained some confidence. Teacher Cassandra was very good. Venue good, materials; the sewing machine was a Hobbycraft 19s same as mine but it broke towards the end of the lesson, hence the four star review and not 5! I enjoyed the professional but warm approach and the ability to learn new skills in a way that felt very well pitched.

  • 5/5 from Emily Brewer, attended Nov 2024: I thoroughly enjoyed the one to one sewing workshop at Aylesbury Hobbycraft. The teacher (I wish I could remember her name, it began with a C - sorry ‍️) was so kind and patient letting me practise anything I wasn’t sure of. I now feel confident to have a go at home - thank you so much!
  • 5/5 from Mel Simpson, attended Nov 2024: Excellent workshop - I really enjoyed it! Elliot was so lovely and patient with me. She is clearly very knowledgeable and she taught me exactly what I needed to know. I had sneakily looked at reviews for the workshops and I wasn’t disappointed by the many I read for Elliot - she is a real asset to Hobbycraft. I left the workshop confident that I could start some easy sewing tasks by myself and felt that the workshop was great value for money. I’m even planning on trying another workshop in the near future and will attempt to bring a friend or two!
  • 5/5 from Alison Williams, attended Oct 2024: I booked a workshop to find out about which sewing machine would suit my needs. Thank you Hobbycraft.

  • 5/5 from Jennifer Woolridge, attended Jul 2023: Casandra was lovely & friendly. The class was very helpful to me in relearning essentials… We went through the machine threading & bobbin winding, which is where I’ve been going wrong. She showed how not to sew and advised on taking up cotton lined curtains. She suggest a sewing machine which may be better for the job if mine wasn’t up to it. Good value for money in an easy relaxing atmospheres.

I would definitely recommend this workshop.
