Have you ever dreamed of becoming an artist? Join this painting activity in South East London and learn to paint in a contemporary artist's working studio.
This friendly workshop welcomes everyone, especially beginners. You'll be guided by Nick Malone, an international artist with extensive teaching experience, who fosters a supportive atmosphere for you to immerse yourself in art and develop your unique style. The studio itself, housed in a fascinating Victorian propeller factory, offers an inspiring space filled with works in progress, giving you a real insight into professional art practice.
When you arrive, you’ll be encouraged to get comfortable and try out the materials provided. Everyone works at their own pace in these relaxed sessions. You can expect the activity to generally include three parts:
  • Practical studio work: This is the heart of the class – focusing on your own artwork. Many participants choose to keep their work at the studio, developing painting and drawing projects over time. With a maximum of twelve students per class, Nick has plenty of time to offer individual guidance and answer your specific questions about how to progress.
  • Instruction in basic techniques: Each week focuses on a specific aspect of painting and drawing techniques. The course covers ten core topics designed to build a solid foundation. These classes are also designed to stand alone, so you can easily join whenever suits you.
  • Contemporary art insights: Gain confidence and inspiration by exploring the exciting world of contemporary art through accessible slideshows or short films – presented without any confusing art jargon.
You'll finish the session feeling creatively invigorated, equipped with new techniques and a deeper appreciation for your own artistic potential.
Please note: While there is a tutored element to guide you, the main focus of this workshop is on nurturing your individual creativity and developing your own work. Therefore, the sessions are free-flowing rather than a highly structured. The aim is to encourage everyone to explore their own artistic path rather than produce identical pieces.
