2 hours Class size 1 to 6

label £27 - £30 (£27 per Class where you bring your own clothes, £30 per Class where we provide all fabric)

Give your favourite knitwear pieces the TLC they deserve. Learn how to repair and revived damaged clothes with this darning workshop. If you want things to do in London that will teach you a new and useful skill, this darning class is perfect.

This traditional mending technique is typically used on knitwear but can be used on different types of fabric that you want to up-cycle. You will learn four different kinds of darning techniques that you can use over and over to mend holey clothes you don't want to throw away.

Not only are you being more sustainable by fixing your clothes, but you also add some textile art to make them more exciting. It's like getting new pieces without spending any money!

Darning involves hand embroidery, which means you don't need to be a pro on the machine or have one at home to keep up this sewing technique at home. Keep adding gorgeous darning to all your clothes whenever they need a lift.

All the materials you'll need are provided in the class, but we encourage you to bring some clothing you'd like to repair. We offer a lower price to those who bring their own clothes to sew on. If not, we do provide our students with fabric.

Restoration London is an independent organisation that is passionate about sustainability within the clothing industry. Their focus is to reuse, recycle and upcycle existing garments and to share this skill with others so they can repair their most loved and most worn clothes.

They hold workshops around London and Thanet area, to encourage students to mend their clothes. They use all sorts of textile methods to fix, deconstruct, customise and revive clothes that you might otherwise throw into a landfill. They want to inspire people to learn a new and invaluable skill, to reconnect with textile techniques, and to use their creativity to minimise their impact on the environment.

They offer workshops for special events such as hen parties and team building events. Their in-person classes come with free tea, coffee and cake— as if learning a new skill didn't entice you enough!
