At Rescued Clay, we believe that clay, often discarded during construction projects, deserves a new purpose—not just as a material for creating art but as a means to build connections and promote sustainability. Each year, tonnes of clay from London's construction sites end up in landfill. By rescuing this material, we reduce waste while creating opportunities for sustainable practices. Clay holds a unique place in both art and community – it connects us figuratively by bringing people together and literally as a binding material that can incorporate other forms of waste. This dual role inspires everything we do.
Our work spans three interconnected areas: reclaiming and preparing clay for reuse, providing spaces for learning and making, and exploring innovative applications for rescued materials through research and design. Together, these efforts form a holistic approach to sustainability, creativity, and community building.
