I have had my sewing machine for 15 years, and learnt more in today's session than I ever could online or in books - we will most certainly be booking with Claire again ☺️

Although I had sewn in the past, I recently felt inspired to pick it up again and wanted to feel confident the next time I sat down at a sewing machine. Claire was incredibly thorough and explained everything clearly and patiently, including helpful guidance on what to look for when purchasing a machine. I left the class with a small pouch I made myself, having learned different types of stitches and how to insert a zipper - such a rewarding experience! I would absolutely recommend this class and am already looking forward to taking another one.

  • 4/5 from Jennifer King, attended Jan 2026: My 10 year old daughter loved this sewing class. She made a skirt. We brought the pattern, fabric etc. The pace of the class is accessible but will mean most projects will not be finished. We bought 3 hours for my daughter and I to each make a 2 hour skirt but we only managed my daughters skirt. There isn't enough space for more than one project at a time. She is a true dressmaker so you'll learn the proper way, no short cuts here! My daughter is very happy with her skirt.
  • 5/5 from Jacqueline O, attended Oct 2025: Our teacher was very helpful and patient. Both myself and my daughter really enjoyed our first class, learning how to thread, also what stitches to use for various fabrics. I enjoyed the whole lesson. This class was my birthday present. The gift card was easily accessible after making online payment. Excellent services. A big thank you to our teacher!

  • 5/5 from Maria Montvai, attended Jul 2025: I had a great time at the sewing workshop as a complete beginner. The space is creative and welcoming, a refreshing change from my usual corporate environment. Claire, the sewing tutor, is amazing: knowledgeable, kind, and patient, with a clear passion for her craft. I felt I was able to take my first steps in a comfortable, supportive environment, which made the whole learning experience smooth, enjoyable, and a really good start.
  • 5/5 from Giorgia Ieraci Assumma, attended Jul 2025: Incredible - learned so much and finally know how to use my sewing machine! Teacher was super knowledgeable and the class went at exactly the right pace for me. Will definitely be going again!
  • 1/5 from Moyin Oluwajoye, attended Jul 2025: Unfortunately, our experience with this private sewing class was quite disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt cold and uninviting. The instructor didn’t introduce herself or ask our names, which immediately made the session feel impersonal. We were simply told to sit down—no welcome, no drinks offered, and no effort made to create a comfortable environment. The class was held in what appeared to be a staff area, not a proper teaching space, and at one point someone even put the kettle on during the lesson, which was distracting and unprofessional. The biggest issue, however, was the instructor's attitude. She was noticeably rude and condescending when giving instructions, which made the learning process uncomfortable—especially as English is not our first language. Rather than offering support or patience, we felt talked down to and dismissed. To make matters worse, the session felt rushed and poorly timed, and there was no opportunity to finish our project properly. Overall, we left feeling unwelcome, disrespected, and disappointed. We would not recommend this class to others, especially beginners or non-native English speakers looking for a supportive learning environment
  • 5/5 from Danielle Miller, attended Jun 2025: Claire was a very helpful and patient teacher! I would highly recommend this class for anyone who wants to start sewing.
  • 5/5 from Lucy Silvester, attended May 2025: Thoroughly enjoyed the class and exactly what I needed to get me back up and running with my sewing machine. Made a little pouch inc a zip. Feel much more comfortable now
  • 5/5 from Aiziel Nazario, attended May 2025: The teacher was very kind and went the extra mile to teach me what I wanted to learn
  • 5/5 from Marlene Honore, attended May 2025: I thoroughly enjoyed my session - the tutor really helped me and I will book another
  • 5/5 from Ngozichukwu Okoli, attended May 2025: My daughter and I had an awesome time. Claire took time to explain things and her delivery was amazing especially because I’m slow at processing information. I have decided to take up sewing classes with her and looking forward to learning more. For just an hr lesson, it was very engaging. Thank you Claire for being so accommodating as I am disabled but she managed the challenges I encountered on the day with so much empathy.
  • 5/5 from Almira Biglova, attended May 2025: The class has exceeded my expectations. It took place in a gorgeous studio equipped with everything needed for sewing. Claire is lovely and very professional. I had a specific request, and we jumped straight into the making a garment I had in mind. She is an excellent teacher, very passionate with sewing, creative and with lots of patience, but driving towards excellence in work and motivating to do better. Will be coming back

I grew up in Harlow, Essex with a creative mother and an entrepreneur father. After gaining a BA(Hons) degree in clothing design and tailoring from Brighton University, I ventured into the world and set up my company to combat the inequalities of the fashion industry I had been subject to.
By creating zero waste through pattern cutting, natural dyeing and sourcing the most sustainable cloth and haberdashery we aim to have very little negative impact on the planet and local people.
Now with 20 years of retail knowledge and 18 years of tailoring experience and 6 years of teaching behind me, I feel confident in my ability to produce clothing that is timeless. Clothing construction is a great passion of mine that sits juxtaposed with a strong interest in the environmental impact of the clothing and textile industry. I aim to be a contributing factor in helping to reduce the environmental impact of the fashion industry whilst educating people about the issue through my workshops and trading fairly within the supply chain.
