Private Cyanotype Workshop

Explore cameraless photography in this personalised, hands-on session.

2 hours Class size 1 to 6 guests

  £80 - £150 (£80 for 1 person; £100 for 2 people; £120 for 3 people; £130 for 4 people; £140 for 5 people; £150 for 6 people) (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Join this private cyanotype session at BE KA Art Studio, Elena's riverside atelier at Trinity Buoy Wharf, just moments from Canary Wharf. Set at your own pace, this tailored one-to-one (or small group) format is perfect for exploring the technique in a bit more depth.
Cyanotype is one of the oldest photographic printing processes, and one of the most satisfying – using only sunlight, water and natural materials. You'll arrange botanicals, feathers or shells onto coated paper, expose them to light, then rinse your print and watch that distinctive deep blue image bloom. No cameras, no screens, no experience needed – just you, some plants and the light doing the rest.
This private format is ideal for a special occasion, a creative day with friends or family, or simply a more personal, flexible pace than a group taster session. You'll:
  • Arrange botanicals and objects to compose your own prints
  • Explore techniques and materials in more depth, at your own pace
  • Add a personal touch with photo on film, wooden letters, drawings or handwritten details
  • Expose your work in sunlight or UV light
  • Develop your prints in water and watch the images appear
Sessions run for two hours as standard, though this can be adjusted to suit you, and step-free access with disabled toilets is available on site.
Please note: by attending, you agree that photos and videos may be taken for promotional use on the BE KA website and social channels. If you'd rather not appear, just let Elena know and your wishes will be respected.
What you'll get
  • 1 A5 coated paper sheet in your choice of colour, or 2 small squared sheets.
  • 1 A4 watercolour sheet, which you'll prime with the photosensitive solution.
  • 1 A4 print of your photo on film — Please decide beforehand what photo you'd like printed on film to make one of your artworks.
  • Markers and brushes.
  • Cyanotype chemicals and aprons.
  • Botanicals, feathers, shells, and natural materials (feel free to bring your own if you'd like).
  • Small wooden craft letters.
More material can be purchased on site on the day. If you'd like a longer session or to explore a particular technique (including drawing and painting on film, double exposure, cyanotype toning, cyanotype and watercolour, etc.), please let me know, and I'll adjust as needed.
What to bring
  • Bring your own drink and snack.
  • Aprons will be provided, but please wear garments you don't mind getting stained, as cyanotype liquid chemicals can leave marks on fabric.

BE Ka Art Studio is a creative space where art, nature, wellbeing and human connection converge.
Located in Elena's riverside atelier at Trinity Buoy Wharf — moments from Canary Wharf — the studio offers in-person and online classes and workshops where you can explore your creativity and connect with others in a welcoming, relaxed environment.
About Elena
Elena is an Italian visual artist and creative wellbeing workshops director, originally from Bologna and now based in London. Passionate about creativity from an early age, she studied Fine Arts and Sciences as a teenager before going on to earn first-class degrees, including a BA in Painting and Photography from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna — where she also worked as an assistant to a professor on the etching course — a Graduate Diploma in Fine Arts from Chelsea College of Arts, and a Master's in Art and Science from Central Saint Martins (UAL). She is also certified in Creative Health and Wellbeing through Artmaking at Central Saint Martins.
Her background is as layered as her practice — she has worked as a photographer, artist, Fine Art restorer, and gallery assistant, exhibited in Bologna, Venice, Milan and London, and previously trained as a Hatha yoga teacher and Reiki practitioner. These experiences all shape her warm, holistic approach to art and teaching. Elena holds an Enhanced DBS check and teaches on platforms including Tutorful, MyTutor and Superprof.
Classes & Workshops
Classes and workshops are deeply rooted in health and wellbeing through artmaking, human connection and nature. Open to all, regardless of experience or background, Elena has taught students and professionals of all ages and nationalities, in one-to-one and group settings, both online and in person. Workshops are designed to be as accessible, allergy-friendly and environmentally sustainable as possible.
Her approach is relaxed and playful, encouraging you to connect with materials, with others, and with yourself.
Creative practices do more than inspire — they heal. They reduce stress hormones, calm the nervous system, ease physical tension and pain, and support emotional balance. In creative flow, the brain enters a meditative state, bringing clarity and relaxation.
Art helps you slow down, reconnect, and feel grounded. It’s not about the result — it’s about the experience.
Creativity is medicine.
