Parent and Teen Beginner's Furniture Painting Workshop

Transform old furniture into something you're proud of at this hands-on parent and teen class in Shepperton.

12+ years & Adults     3 hours Class size 1 to 8 guests       £60 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Give an old piece of furniture a whole new life at this hands-on painting workshop in Shepperton – a fun, creative session designed specifically for parent and teen pairs to enjoy together during the holidays.
Held at Vintage Chic ReLoved in Shepperton TW17, the class is kept to a maximum of four pairs (eight people in total), so the atmosphere is friendly, personal, and genuinely supportive throughout. It's also suitable for any carer over 18 with a teen, grandparents and grandchildren, and teens with additional needs – anyone who'd enjoy learning something practical and creative side by side.
Your tutor will guide you through the full process from start to finish. You'll learn how to properly clean and sand your piece, understand which paints to use and why (the class uses Frenchic Paint, widely regarded as the market leader), and practise both brush and roller techniques before sealing and caring for your finished furniture at home. By the end of the session, your piece will be painted and ready to take away with you.
You'll need to bring one piece of furniture between you – a wooden chair, occasional table, small stool, or wooden box all work well. Larger items like bedside tables or chests of drawers are welcome, though you may not finish them within the session. If you don't have a piece to bring, get in touch and your tutor can source one for a small additional cost.
  • Suitable for teens aged 12 and over
  • Suitable for teens with additional needs

Hi!
I'm passionate about sustainability and upcycling and I also have a real love for anything mid-century modern. I've been teaching for 15 years and I was previously an Assistant Headteacher. During that time, I was responsible for teaching art across different year groups and developed a love for creativity.
I've upcycled many pieces of furniture including impressive looking pieces of Stag furniture, Harrops Better Furniture and many other mid century modern pieces from writing bureaus to dressers. I've also upcycled simple occasional tables and bedside tables.
I have used a variety of decorative effects for my furniture including stenciling, decoupage (both napkin decoupage and rice paper), furniture painting and wood effects to create truly stunning transformative pieces.
Three years ago, I had a cancer diagnosis. I wasn't going to be beaten and this spurred me on to follow a more creative path, hence my love of upcycling furniture and the Vintage Chic ReLoved was created. I'm delighted that I now have the opportunity to combine both my extensive teaching experience and knowledge of transforming pre-loved furniture into upcycling workshops aimed at creating a more sustainable circular economy.
My upcycling workshops are for everyone. They take place at Vintage Chic ReLoved, Ferry Point, Ferry Lane, Shepperton TW17 9LQ. It's a cosy riverside studio.
If you are moving house and feeling the pinch needing to create a welcoming home with existing furniture; to learning how to create a stunning, one of a kind piece as well as being conscious about sustainability and ecological impact, or you just love to be creative and crafty, then my workshops are for you.
If you have any questions at all or you just want to connect, please do drop me a line on here. I always love hearing from you and I love forward to meeting with you soon at one of my workshops.
Lots of Vintage Chic love
Jacqui
