Photopolymer Etching Workshop

In this workshop, you will learn how to develop an image, either photographic or drawn, onto a printable plate, using the KM73 Toyobe plate. Suitable for all levels, from beginners to those looking to enhance their skills. Don't worry if you're new to this – no experience is needed, and guidance will be provided every step of the way.
Here's what to expect during the workshop:
  • Tutored by John Howard, BA Hons, RE, FRBSA, along with a dedicated technician.
  • All necessary materials, including paper, are supplied.
  • Feel free to bring along 3 or 4 A5ish images as printed acetates (positives). Get in touch if you are not sure what this means.
By the end of the session, you'll not only have explored a new creative outlet but also have a unique print to take away. Start gathering your ideas, and get ready to delve into the world of printmaking in a supportive and enriching environment.

John Howard is an award-winning painter and printmaker and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE) and an honorary member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (MRBSA). As well as running his highly-regarded print studio, he is also an associate lecturer at Falmouth University.
Born in Birmingham, England, John worked in industry in the midlands for ten years before studying fine art as a mature student where he graduated with a first class honours degree. He moved to Cornwall for greater professional and personal fulfilment and now runs a printmaking studio in an iconic eco-building, offering courses, workshops and open access to other printmakers as well as making his own work.
