I studied ceramics at Epsom School of Art and Design back in the seventies and have since had various studios and worked in a pottery department teaching and as a technician. I also give classes in my present studio. These are for potting on the potters wheel and for hand building techniques. My own work is mainly decorative and functional using various techniques for making and for decoration.
My passion for pottery is not only for making but also for teaching and the enjoyment people get from making pottery.

A birthday treat for 11 year old grandson. We had a really great time and were amazed with our results on the wheel. Patrick was a really good teacher and our results were due to his excellent guidance. He gave our budding potter lots of information to help him on his way. My husband and I wanted to do something fun together and this was perfect. Patrick was the best teacher we felt the activity was well suited for a couple as you are not in one of those massive groups plus Patrick pays a lot of attention to you which was essential to have a nice final product. Would definitely reccomend it or do it again.

Very nice experience. Patrick showed you how to use the wheel and hand movement for shaping your pots. I also liked you worked at your own pace. I was luck the first hour was one to one, but even when the next student arrived Patrick managed our time very well.

Went for a nice afternoon out. Patrick was really friendly and me and my mum had a great time. The venue was very comfortable and we had a couple of chances to make pieces on the wheel each. With Patrick steering us and guiding us away from dreadful mistakes.

Patrick hosted a wonderful introduction to pottery for my girlfriend and I today on valentines, we’ve always wanted to do a wheel throwing pottery class and we definitely picked the perfect one. He kindly met us in the car park outside and showed us to his very nice studio. He also helped us learn the technical skills that would enable us to continue pottery as a hobby, meanwhile also making it a fun and enjoyable one off class. We made two pots and a bowl with Patrick’s teaching. He helped guide our techniques very clearly, we could understand what we were doing perfectly. Then he let us play about where we made a pot each, one of us controlling the wheel and adding water, the other moulding the pot. Thoroughly enjoyed the class and would definitely recommend to anyone.

Loved the class with Patrick. We booked in for two people and had the class to ourselves which was lovely. Patrick was so passionate about ceramics and the class was timed perfectly over the two and a half hours. We made 4 pots/bowls and then chose to keep 2 at the end. He helped us create the first few and then let us have a go on our own! He's very passionate for you to properly learn the basics which we really appreciated. Thanks again for a lovely afternoon

Patrick is great. He’s hands on and allows you to feel confident and not get discouraged.
He’s friendly and easy to talk to, and clearly has so much passion for pottery which is contagious.
The venue is nice and tidy, easy to find.
All materials are provided and you can just show up which is exactly what you’d hope.
I’m really glad I went to this class, it felt the length was just right to really have a go with it, and a lot can be said for having 1 on 1 time with Patrick when you’re a beginner. The fact you get to take something home and have a home made item in the house is a massive bonus.
You would not be disappointed coming here.

Patrick is a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable teacher. I took my 8 year old daughter with me and he is a natural with children and he very kindly tailored the class to suit us both. With a hands on approach Patrick guided us to make huge progress on the wheel and moreover make it an extremely enjoyable experience. Can’t wait to collect the pots once they are glazed and fired by Patrick. I thoroughly recommend this to anyone of any skill level.

Had a really great time at Patrick's wheel pottery class! I picked up a bunch of cool skills, like how to center clay, make pots, bowls, and even a try to do a vase. We talked about different types of clay, firing techniques, and a bunch of other stuff. Definitely recommend trying at least one session with him.

Patrick had great knowledge of his craft and is a brilliant teacher, giving us a hands on introduction and helping us craft three pots and a bowl each, despite being complete beginners to pottery. It was great fun and I would definitely recommend the workshop to anyone wanting to try wheel throwing!

Patrick is a very easy teacher to get along with, friendly and informative with many years experience of pottery throwing.
The venue was quiet and spacious, but a working environment, so lots of evidence of pottery making. Aprons and all necessary materials are provided and Patrick gave some background on the type of clay we used.
This two and a half hour session is competitively priced and offers good value for money. The class size is limited to 2 people so good, focused guidance. We learned the techniques for shaping a pot and a bowl as well as lots of background information.
We will take home the pot and bowl that we each made once Patrick has fired and glazed them for us.
A very enjoyable introduction to making pottery on a wheel.

We booked a private class for 2 people. It was a lot of fun, we had a go on the wheel while the other person watched and then switched. Patrick explained and demonstrated the technique for each step. We had a lovely time learning about the different steps of the process and making our little pots and bowls that we get to bring home when they’re ready! Very exciting.
Class takes place in a studio that has everything you need, many other artists have studios in the same complex so there is an artsy vibe to the place.
Overall a great experience and Patrick was a great teacher.

Parking on site and as soon as we got there and called Patrick he came straight out to meet us. We had a very informative and hands on lesson on wheel throwing and it was so much fun. It’s also a LOT harder than what Patrick makes it look! He’s a fab teacher we had a great time!
