Painting Class: Paint & Sip at Home

Whether you're celebrating a birthday, an anniversary or you're simply looking for creative date night ideas, this paint and sip class will have you grinning from ear to ear.

If you're looking for memorable activities for your group, forget a night out at the cinema; stay at home and share a glass of wine while enjoying some soothing, mindful painting.

In this online class, your friendly and experienced teacher Fran, based and 'zooming' in from Blue Mountains, Australia, will go step-by-step, guiding you to paint an original artwork to hang in your home.

You'll be painting beautiful Australian eucalyptus blossoms and leaves. The eucalyptus (Australians call them Gums) is considered a holy tree for the Indigenous peoples of Australia. For the Aboriginals, it represents the division of the underworld, earth, and heaven. The eucalyptus leaf is also often believed to have a purifying effect, as negative energy disappears in the place where you burn it.

Don't worry if you haven't picked up a paintbrush since school, as Fran will be on hand to offer the benefit of her experience, guiding you virtually to a beautiful piece of art that'll serve as a memento of the wonderful time you've spent with your nearest and dearest.

• Canvas 'board or panel' (suggested size 30.5 x 30.5cm / 12x12" or larger).
• Acrylic brushes x 3: fine (size 2) and medium (sizes 5 and 10).
• Acrylic paint: black, white, red, blue, green and yellow.
• Paper plate, old plate, or paint pallet (for paints).
• Jar/Cup (for water and dirty brushes).
• Old cloth or paper towel (for dirty brushes).
• Apron (optional).
• Table easel (optional).
