When the hustle and bustle of London is getting you down, join this art class guided by an experienced and friendly teacher, Georgie.
Classes take place at Stepney City Farm. This little slice of green paradise is the perfect place to open yourself up to new skills and enjoy a creative and relaxing break.
When you arrive at the space, Georgie will greet you and offer you tea/coffee. She'll then take you on a stroll through secret areas of the farm, with stopping points where you'll be guided through short creative warm-up exercises.
Back in the studio, Georgie will demonstrate some techniques and textures she uses in her work, from making textures out of farmyard mud, to splashing paint, Pollock-style!
You'll learn how to construct your very own masterpiece by building texture, colour mixing, mark-making, and most importantly, letting go. Georgie will help you detach from your inner perfectionist, enjoy the process and find flow. There are no rules, no right or wrong - this class is a place to practise getting comfortable with the unknown, and get messy! (Don't worry - kimonos and gloves provided)
If you've ever wanted to start painting but lacked the materials or motivation to get going, this art workshop is ideal. Georgie will give you as much or as little guidance as you need and want. It's also perfect for all occasions, from a birthday party, a hen's do or just a fun day out in London.
The class at the Stepney farm includes a short break where you can buy lunch from our onsite cafe, The Allotment Kitchen, or the farmers market, right by the studio, so you can enjoy local produce meals made with care.
Other info:
The class is for ages 18+ but if you're booking as part of a private group of 6-8 then of children aged 5+ are welcome.
Please note: Stepney City Farm is NOT Hackney City Farm!

Georgie Mason is an intuitive abstract painter working in an assortment of media. She values the art-making process for its therapeutic benefits and as a process of self-exploration just as much as she values the final product.
Georgie teaches weekly workshops from two venues:
Flow Space in Dalston - a beautiful and spacious studio in the heart of Dalston set up by artist Barnaby Hosking. Classes will be here until 2nd May.
Stepney City Farm in London - a wholesome and creative environment, physically close but atmospherically very far from the hustle and bustle of the city, with glass double doors looking out onto the farm, animals all around, and neighboured by a spoon-carver and a ceramicist. Classes will be held here after 2nd May 2023.
Georgie’s workshops are very process-led, with the intention of connecting with the innate creativity that already exists within each of us. For centuries humans have instinctively created, but many people believe they’re no good so they don’t try. Georgie’s aim is to reinvent the purpose of painting as a means of reconnecting to ourselves. The classes are relaxed and Georgie offers guidance and structure but also encourages freedom of expression and risk-taking.
Since graduating with a degree in English Literature and History of Art at Nottingham University, Georgie has exhibited internationally including at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Affordable Art Fairs and the Museum of Goa in India. Her work is held in public and private collections across the UK. Georgie has been a guest lecturer at Queen Mary University.
