My name is Lisa, and I’ve been a printed textile designer in the fashion industry for nearly 30 years, working across numerous brands. In 2019, I launched my own business, supplying the fashion and interior industries with original artworks for their collections. The business has been a great success, but in 2022, I began thinking about how fulfilling it would be to give back by teaching others how to paint florals—the way I do when creating designs.
I initially started workshops tailored for my clients, primarily for events, and quickly discovered a genuine passion for teaching. It was an aspect of my work I had never fully explored, but it opened my eyes to new possibilities. This realisation led me to connect with schools and my local community, ultimately leading to the creation of Paint and Fizz.
I wanted to contribute to my community, offering people a chance to step away from their busy lives for a couple of hours and explore a different form of mindfulness—an alternative to traditional practices like yoga.
Within a year of starting these classes, I saw just how much they were needed. Parents have brought their young adult children along to spend quality time together. Women who met at the first session now return every month, sitting together and forming friendships through the class.
Watching students progress and witnessing the incredible artworks created has been a joy. Seeing people return, growing in confidence and creativity, has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
