Hello! I'm Tomoko, originally from Japan and now based in London.
Ever since I was living in Japan, I've loved connecting with people from different cultures. I regularly welcomed international visitors through homestay programmes and enjoyed sharing Japanese traditions, food, and everyday life with them. Seeing people discover Japan through personal experiences has always brought me great joy.
Later, while living in the United States, I continued sharing Japanese culture by hosting onigiri workshops and introducing other traditional customs. Since moving to London, I've organised Japanese cultural events, including sushi-making classes and a Setsubun (Japanese Bean-Throwing Festival) event.
For me, teaching isn't just about showing people how to make onigiri. It's about creating meaningful cultural experiences and helping people understand the stories, traditions, and spirit behind Japanese food. I love seeing people smile when they shape their first onigiri, learn something new, and leave feeling a little closer to Japan.
Whether you're completely new to Japanese culture or already love Japan, I'd be delighted to welcome you to my class and share this experience with you.
My dream is to build a bridge between Japan and the world, one onigiri at a time.
