Indian cuisine has long been a go-to choice for both vegans and vegetarians. However, many food establishments still cling to outdated menus that fail to showcase the remarkable evolution of Indian cuisine in bustling cities across India.

Embracing the culinary revolution, new ingredients from all corners of India are now celebrated and unleashed beyond their traditional boundaries. The heavy reliance on oil and overpowering masalas have given way to the inclusion of Mediterranean ingredients, like olive oil, and a fusion of international spices.

Prepare to be surprised and captivated by a nouveau Indian menu with the London Vegetarian and Vegan School. This Indian cooking class is a breath of fresh air from the all-too-familiar traditional fare.

During this culinary adventure, you will learn to cook a range of tantalising creations and experience flavours such as pomegranate paste aubergine, olive and rosemary chutney soufflé, sun-dried tomato, basil, and chilli dosa-style crepes, and fennel coconut and lemon bakes. The lineup continues with an array of contemporary tastes, packed full of unique flair.

With the support of experienced teachers, you will pick up new cooking skills as you make seven to ten new recipes. This workshop caters to both vegans and vegetarians.

London Vegetarian and Vegan School extends well beyond an average cookery school; it is in effect a lifestyle centre. The concept originated in the Alte Forsthaus in Frankfurt which moved to Hampstead in 1989 followed by London Bridge to the current location; the artist’s quarter in Forest Hill.

Veganism has changed over the last few years and we have introduced a greater number of vegan cooking workshops in our programme. We avoid introducing highly processed manufactured vegan ingredients but instead prefer to create our very own – eggs being a good example.

This collage of information is to demystify the art of cooking and sometimes it means going back to basics in order to get a thorough grounding and understanding of cooking essentials which so often this level of information and detail one cannot find nor read in glossy magazines. Most important to qualify all the above is personal attention to individuals and hands on experience so one gets the opportunity to try out different knives and associated skills, types of professional pans and their applications and in this process instill both confidence and kitchen management making cooking experience days more enjoyable.

For us the cookery classes in London we offer are just one element; how you deliver, present, organise a dinner party, set the environment which includes lighting, music and colours are all important which we coach our students on our profi week long courses.

The school has a special place in London Society and the cuisine school’s patrons are members of the former German monarchy.
