Notebook Bookbinding Class

Make your own notebook in this bookbinding workshop in London!

3 hours Class size 5 to 30 guests       £50 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

In this hands-on bookbinding workshop in London, you'll learn the traditional Coptic stitch binding technique, a beautiful method that creates a notebook with an exposed spine that opens completely flat. This ancient binding style is both decorative and practical, allowing the pages to lie flat -- perfect for drawing, writing, or displaying photos.
Never tried bookbinding before? No worries -- this class is completely beginner-friendly, and you'll receive expert guidance throughout as you engage with this timeless craft.
What to expect:
  • Work on your own A5 handmade book, choosing to make it either as a sketchbook, journal, or photo album.
  • You will be guided step by step through folding pages, preparing the covers, and stitching the sections together using the distinctive Coptic binding pattern.
  • Feel free to bring your own special papers, photographs or materials and we'll help you incorporate them into your book.
  • Personalise and decorate the cover using Posca markers, adding patterns, colours, or botanical motifs to make your book truly unique.
By the end of the workshop, you'll have your completed book -- completely unique and lovingly handmade by you. Plus new creative skills to keep experimenting with at home!

I'm Maria, an artist and illustrator based in South East London. I’m inspired by the natural world, by my travels, and childhood memories. I’ve loved painting and drawing ever since I was a little girl growing up in Romania. I was lucky to have a mum who encouraged my early artistic efforts. She used to sell my handmade cards in her office, and I’d earn extra pocket money by taking my work to local craft fairs. Later on, I did my Masters in Art at the University of Fine Arts in Cluj-Napoca and then spent time studying in Italy before moving to London and working as a graphic designer. Today I specialise in watercolour, which is my favourite technique. I love bold colours and botanical illustration, anything that evokes happiness and healing.
