New Dawn Pottery represents a new beginning.

Life is an intense journey that keeps taking me to paths that I never thought I would walk. I have found great healing and passion in this beautiful art form. Spending my days making functional pieces of ceramics from a ball clay in my studio gives me so much joy and fascinates me. It’s been a very meditative journey that allows me to explore and express myself as an artist and who I am as a person.

I took my partner for his birthday, we both had a wonderful time. The teacher was incredibly friendly and informative, she made sure everyone knew what they were doing and was having a good time. I was surprised by how much we got to make in the time slot.

Went for a last minute taster class as a gift to my friend. It was fantastic!

It was a small group that allowed our teacher, Chris, to be able to give enough individual attention to each of us.

Chris's guidance was great! He did make it look easy :) but his demo was so clear, and he supported us throughout our session.

We all came out with at least one piece of work after having 3 or 4 goes through the day.

Our teacher was Chris. I booked this for my husbands birthday and I was extremely nervous as I’m not very good in public settings but Chris was so kind and made us feel so comfortable with his patience and expertise (As we’re new to this)
The studio and materials provided were very clean and honestly so worth the amount I paid for this class… we will definitely be returning again

The occasion was a birthday gift for my wife Kathryn. I have never experienced pottery throwing before soni was a little nervous.
As the class started, the tutor explained what we were going to do and how to do it. From there, I simply had a fabulous time and, created some pleasing looking pots, which for my first at throwing was great.
Lovely atmosphere with lots of other examples around the room to take some inspiration from.
The time whizzed by, so it must have been engrossing and very enjoyable.

Went for my wife’s birthday. The teacher was friendly and gave each of us good one to one attention when required. The time flew by and we were able to make 5-6 different pots. We chose our favourite which will then be coloured and fired to be picked up. Overall great experience that we would like to do more of.

We really enjoyed our very first pottery session, the beginners class was definitely the right choice! It was a 2 hour session and it seemed to fly by. We would do it again for sure!

Suggestions we would like to make are to possibly send out the message about clothing should, nail length, etc. earlier in advance; add couple more glazing choices e.g. a deep blue or even a strong red.

Overall the class was great. Only 6 people per class means you get the attention you need to help you throughout.
I would’ve given this 5 stars, however, my first class was cancelled by the teach and had to be rescheduled and I feel the 2 hour limit is too short. As you also need time to have a demo and tidy up, but also wait for any late comers. Other than this, it was still really enjoyable experience and recommend people to take part.

Always wanted to try pottery, the class was the perfect size for getting good guidance from the teacher. There was opportunity to try making the pot numerous times which was good to practice. A little expensive but competitive to other similar classes.

The actual class was really good fun and my girlfriend and I had a great time. Trying to get hold of the pieces we made afterwards though was a nightmare. We didn’t hear anything from them for a couple of months so I decided to message myself to see what was going on. I was told that “admin was being done for collections” and then heard nothing again for a week or so. Eventually, I went back to the studio to collect and after standing outside the door for a good 10 minutes, I finally got answer. My girlfriend and I made 4 pieces in total but I was only given two. Not sure what happened to the other two, but I was told there was just an “admin error”. Would recommend the class but customer service needs to improve.

Great session - such warmth and humour from the teacher. She explained thoroughly and gave us many opportunities to make progress throughout the two hour session. We had the opportunity to do at least 4 attempts and choose the best at the end to go into the kiln. We had so much fun!

I attended the wheel throwing class. My teacher is very hands-on and encouraging. She kept my spirits up. I appreciated her advice and tips! Materials were all provided. I learnt that the most important thing is to enjoy and focus. For 2 hours and 4 pieces of potteries made I really think the price worth it.

The class was so good! The welcome was lovely and friendly, we got shown what to do and then loads of help and guidance throughout the class whilst being able to give it a good go yourself.

The lady we had teaching us was so lovely and kind and made an effort to get to know us personally. My friend and I really enjoyed the class and learnt a lot about pottery and it was such a good introduction to it. She let us get to it straight away and showed was needed to be done. This was my second time at the New Dawn Pottery studio, which has moved to a bigger studio since the last time. The studio is in a cool location and has a beautiful view of the canal! You can't help but feel creative there and Filipa has done a great job with it. This class was taught by Nina, who was also an amazing teacher. The class was laid back, informative and fun and Nina was funny and super warm. She helped us step by step and if we needed a little touch up she was more then happy to sort it out for us. She enabled and encouraged us to be creative and think outside the box with our vases. I would 100% do another class with both Nina and Filipa, I recommend it to anyone, especially as a present for a friend or family. I took my mum and my partner, we all buzzed off it!

Love this course! Learnt absolutely loads about what goes into the creation of hand made ceramics and had a load of fun doing so. Filipa was great, was always on hand to help and guide where necessary, but allowed you to go with the flow when you got in the zone.

Would definitely recommend to anybody whose thinking about getting into pottery and wants to give it a go.

My daughter and I had a very enjoyable 2hr taster session.
The venue is a little tricky to find, but following signs to the barber's helped! Everything was set up, ready for us and the instruction given was very good and supportive. Lots of time to make several pots and the class size (4) was ideal.
The session comes highly recommended by both myself and my daughter. I'm sure we'll do it again soon :)

The length of the session was sufficient to observe Filipa demoing, trying to throw as many as we can ourselves and choosing colours for the one we want to glaze. Her studio was really cool with vases and pots everywhere, all so beautiful. The taster course was good value for money and I enjoyed learning from Filipa
She is incredible at pottery and provided clear and direct feedback on my technique. It was tricky for me but she was really patient and encouraging, as I found it hard to remember all the techniques. I'd definitely love to do a course!

Teacher was good definitely knew her subject. Liked the small class size materials were good . Good pace to the session and tutor gave relevant support. I only had one negative which was locating the venue as its a little tugged away off the main road however still a good experience

Really enjoyed my beginners pottery and managed to make four things. I found the centring of the clay quite hard, but Filipa, the teacher, helped me when it was going wrong ensuring I learnt and had an end product!
I went by myself and the other students (max 4 in total) were friendly. I felt comfortable going alone.

Our teacher was excellent, patient and support.
Demonstration to begin with highlighting the key points in terms how to position yourself at the wheel, speed of the wheels, the tools to use etc.

It was a relaxed atmosphere and the group size was “bang on” 4. Time went quickly!

The teacher is very responsible and contact us before the class to make sure we can find the place. The studio is just a few minutes walk away from metro so very convenient.
She is very welcoming and patient to guide us the whole process, taught us step by step and the key tricks to make a good pot.

Had such a good time in this class and was left really interested in continuing to learn more about pottery. Filipa was fantastic and showed us the basics of how to make a pot and then gave us plenty of time and clay to practice. If you make a mistake (which I did many times) she's on hand to help and guide you through the process, but if you're a bit of a pro then you can just go where your creativity takes you.

We went to this as a family of 5 ( 2 kids aged 10 years & 14 years). We had 4 wheels with 2 of us sharing one wheel & we all had a fantastic time. Philippa was an excellent teacher and very patient. We got to have 3 go’s at making our pottery pots on the wheel with lots of support from Philippa and then we picked our favorite pot to go in the Kiln & for subsequent glazing. This was a brilliant experience & would highly recommend it. Will definitely return!

Wonderful experience and an even better teacher. So patient and knowledgeable. We got a demonstration and then had four goes at the wheel. We then got to pick two of our favourite creations and select the glaze we want. Very cosy and intimate studio and we are already thinking of going back !

The teacher was excellent. Very knowledgeable, friendly and interesting. She made the session relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable. All four people on the course made two really good pots each and the teacher will fire them and glaze them in a glaze of our choice for us to take home in four weeks. I made a small vase and a bowl suitable for dips. I can’t wait to see the finished results!

What an amazing class! Filipa is a fantastic teacher, she is super knowledgeable and taught us in a relaxed and easy to understand way. She shown us the process step by step and was there to help when we needed it. She is very friendly and accommodating. The space was cool and very easy to get too.
