What you'll do
Join us at New Dawn Pottery for a relaxing and creative 5-week pottery wheel course in Manchester designed especially for beginners. This hands-on course will guide you through the essential techniques of wheel throwing while you create your own beautiful handmade ceramics.Completely beginner-friendly, your teacher will demonstrate each step and provide individual guidance in a supportive small-group environment (maximum 8 students), helping you build confidence and develop your skills.What to expect:
- Over five weekly sessions, you’ll learn the foundations of working with clay on the pottery wheel.
- In the first sessions, you’ll learn the core techniques of wedging clay, centring on the wheel, and opening and pulling walls to form simple shapes such as cups and bowls.
- As the course progresses, you’ll explore trimming, refining forms, and adding finishing touches such as handles.
- You’ll then decorate your favourite pieces using glazes and underglaze techniques, transforming them into unique ceramic works you’ll be proud to take home.
