Join us at New Dawn Pottery for a relaxing and creative 5-week pottery wheel course in Manchester designed especially for beginners. This hands-on course will guide you through the essential techniques of wheel throwing while you create your own beautiful handmade ceramics.
Completely beginner-friendly, your teacher will demonstrate each step and provide individual guidance in a supportive small-group environment (maximum 8 students), helping you build confidence and develop your skills.
What to expect:
  • Over five weekly sessions, you’ll learn the foundations of working with clay on the pottery wheel.
  • In the first sessions, you’ll learn the core techniques of wedging clay, centring on the wheel, and opening and pulling walls to form simple shapes such as cups and bowls.
  • As the course progresses, you’ll explore trimming, refining forms, and adding finishing touches such as handles.
  • You’ll then decorate your favourite pieces using glazes and underglaze techniques, transforming them into unique ceramic works you’ll be proud to take home.
You'll take away up to 10 pottery pieces, completely unique and handmade by you! Plus a host of new pottery skills to keep experimenting with -- you might even discover your new favourite hobby!

New Dawn Pottery represents a new beginning.
Life is an intense journey that keeps taking me to paths that I never thought I would walk. I have found great healing and passion in this beautiful art form. Spending my days making functional pieces of ceramics from a ball clay in my studio gives me so much joy and fascinates me. It’s been a very meditative journey that allows me to explore and express myself as an artist and who I am as a person.
