Natural Dyeing Workshop: Expand Your Colour Palette

Learn how to expand your natural colour palette for dyeing, printing and painting in simple steps

2 hours Class size 3 to 20 guests

£65 (£60 per class surcharge applies for private classes) (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

In this workshop we will learn how to modify colours on a dye bath as well as in naturally dyed textiles using a few methods which will include a natural bleach technique, natural painted resists and metal salts to switch colours to further develop your natural dyeing palette.
This might sound a little bit too technical but it is actually simple, straightforward and a lot of fun! You will end up with a wealth of options to explore and add to your natural dye practice in regards to surface decoration and colour palettes. These techniques can be applied on paper or textiles. On this occasion we will be working with textiles.
I will be showing samples on different fibres, giving some natural dye tips and sharing some basic -and not so basic!- information regarding natural dyes, including some good ways to prepare fabrics for dyeing and what are the fibres that best take natural colour.
This is a family friendly workshop and beginners as well as more experienced participants are welcome to join.

I am a visual artist and arts educator working with colour, textiles, minerals, clay, seeds, flowers and pigments that I carefully gather from plants around me and nearby.
I specialise in sustainable wellbeing workshops and creative mindful sessions for community groups, CPD and staff training for small companies and institutions.
I have been working with natural dyes since 2019 and have an extensive experience planning and delivering creative and engaging sustainable workshops for people of all ages and many backgrounds.
I see these experiences as tools for learning but also for grounding and reflection that aim to connect with ourselves and with others in a supportive, non judgemental safe space. Interested in mental health and wellbeing, I nurture environments where people can reach a deeper level of understanding of their feelings and emotions, allowing time for play and exploration with a focus on the process of making and collective learning.
