No previous knowledge is required; just bring curiosity, presence, and patience to the class. The rest will naturally unfold. :)
What to bring
Please bring a plastic bag or two to take your wet samples home. You might want to bring some questions, as well as a notepad and a pencil to take notes and start or keep working on your botanical dyeing journalMaterials and tools will be provided, but feel free to gather in advance and bring some onion skins, avocado pits and skins, pomegranate skins, and/or used tea bags to extract colour from.

We took the class taught by Renata in Hackney Wick Old Baths that explores natural dyeing - we really enjoyed the process of making the various inks using a range of ingredients from flowers, foods and everyday household staples, letting our minds wander off, painting with the concoctions we had made. Renata is both an incredibly knowledgable artist but also a warm host. She made us feel so welcome and I felt that I learnt a lot about a subject I knew nothing about. This was really the perfect evening activity to experiment something different and tap into the creative self.

Renata showed us her lovely samples and guided us step by step on the process of creating a dye bath from scratch. I'm a visual artist and arts educator working with natural colour, textiles, clay, seeds, and flowers I gather myself. Since 2018, I've been designing and leading sustainable, hands-on workshops and mindful sessions for all kinds of groups: corporate teams looking for something genuinely different and engaging, hen parties wanting a fun creative afternoon, and people who just love making things and learning about plant dyes and fibres.My sessions are grounded in mental health and well-being.
