In this unique workshop, you'll discover the traditional craft of natural brush making, creating your own eco-friendly brush or broom using foraged materials. This hands-on activity combines practical skills with sustainable crafting, resulting in a beautiful and functional piece to take home.
Whether you're interested in traditional crafts or sustainable living, this thoughtful workshop offers a perfect introduction to natural brush making. Your expert tutor Monica Heeran, a Lambeth-based forager and basket maker, will share her wealth of knowledge in a supportive environment.
You'll learn how to identify and responsibly gather traditional brush-making materials, understanding which natural fibres work best for different purposes. Working with these organic materials, you'll master the techniques needed to construct a brush that's both practical and aesthetically pleasing.
The slow, intentional nature of brush making offers a wonderfully meditative experience. As you learn to bind and shape your natural materials, you'll develop a deeper appreciation for sustainable crafting. You'll leave the session with your own handcrafted brush or broom, plus the knowledge to continue this environmentally conscious craft at home.

The Remakery started 10 years ago as a community space for repairing and upcycling furniture.
Since then we have developed several communal workshops for a range of eco-craft activities, and an exciting programme to link climate action with the empowerment of making with your hands.
Our practitioners have trained at London's top Arts schools, or developed their skills over years of self-discovery.
Our programme is curated by Alice Holloway; A researcher in regenerative fashion with The RCA and London Met university, and Innovate Creative Catalyst grant winning regenerative fashion designer.
The skills we share at the Remakery are proven to improve mental health, as well as change how class attendees see the world. We want everyone to feel empowered to make a difference, and we have seen how learning to make something is often in the first step towards changing something bigger.
