  • 5/5 from Leon Chui, attended Nov 2025: The co-founder Darren ran our mini terrarium workshop on the 16th November and may I say he was delightful, attentive and enthusiastic about his craft as well as his wine selection. The Blaauwklippen blend was fantastic! The workshop was well structured and easy to follow even for a first timer like myself. Darren definitely put his own flair to it, telling the history behind how terrariums came about and giving reasoning behind the materials we were putting in our terrariums. The set up felt cosy and it was interesting to hear that AI was used to influence the look of the shop. Thank you for this wonderful experience Darren.
  • 5/5 from Amy Cox, attended Nov 2025: Great class! Super fun and informative

  • 5/5 from Zahabiya Adamaly, attended Oct 2025: A Wonderful Hands-On Experience! The session was not only fun and creative, but also incredibly relaxing. Darren was friendly, informative, and made the whole process extremely easy to follow — even for non-gardeners like me. All the materials were beautifully organized, and we had a great selection of plants, moss, stones, and decorations to personalize our terrariums. I loved learning about the layers and how to care for the tiny ecosystem we created. It was such a satisfying, hands-on activity, and I walked away with a lovely little piece of nature to brighten up my home. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a creative outlet, a fun group activity, or just a peaceful break from the usual routine. We'll definitely be back for another session!
  • 5/5 from Siân, attended Aug 2025: I had the most amazing time at the terrarium class, I was really apprehensive before as it was booked for a friends birthday and it isn’t usually my type of thing to do however it was honestly so relaxing and just really really good to do something completely out of the norm for me. Darren was amazing, super informative and just a genuinely lovely person :) I would recommend this to absolutely anyone, I will be coming back for another x
  • 3/5 from Atika Rahal, attended Aug 2025: I enjoyed making the terrariums and Darren was very good at explaining and demonstrating each step. The historical aspect was interesting too, although I felt that it really lacked any awareness of naming the colonial context.
  • 5/5 from Vivienne Dawkins, attended Jul 2025: My friend and I were lucky enough to receive ClassBento vouchers for our birthdays, and after some searching, we decided to book the Terrarium Workshop – and we're so glad we did! From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly inviting and made us feel right at home. Our teacher, Tin Tin, was an absolute gem! He was incredibly knowledgeable about all things terrariums and shared so many fascinating insights. What truly stood out was his patience; he guided the entire group with such care, ensuring everyone felt comfortable and had a great time. We had so much fun getting hands-on and creating our own miniature ecosystems. The workshop was engaging, informative, and genuinely enjoyable. The best part? We got to take our beautiful terrariums home at the end of the day! They even thought of everything, providing handy cardboard holders which made transporting our delicate creations a breeze. We highly recommend this workshop for anyone looking for a fun, creative, and rewarding experience. Thank you, ClassBento and Tin Tin, for such a memorable day!
  • 5/5 from Meg Welstead, attended Jul 2025: Amazing workshop! Our guide, Tin Tin was lovely, very clear and friendly with explaining how to create and care for your terrarium. The shop was beautifully designed, even had a bar with plenty of drinks and snacks. Would highly recommend as a gift experience!
  • 5/5 from Christina Beyer, attended Jul 2025: We did this as a group of 27 people of very mixed abilities and confidence. Everyone loved the course and the fact that they got to take home a successful gift
  • 5/5 from Kamila Lui, attended Jun 2025: Our instructor, Theo, is excellent at sharing the story behind the terrarium and guiding us through each step of the process. He pays great attention to detail and helped everyone in the class feel comfortable while creating their terrariums. I can see everyone was leaving with a big smile and their proud piece. I would definitely recommend this experience.
  • 4/5 from Barbara Jay, attended Apr 2025: The terrarium making class was a soothing and immersive experience overall. I enjoyed the storytelling aspect and learning about the history of terrariums, which added a thoughtful, almost meditative layer to the session. The venue itself was beautiful—clearly a lot of care went into the decor and atmosphere. The jar was much larger than I expected for something labeled as a "mini" terrarium, which was great! I really enjoyed the unique packaging to safely carry the terrarium. That said, the class was occasionally a bit distracting, as customers came in and the teacher had to step away to attend to them. It would’ve been helpful to have a finished terrarium to reference, rather than the teacher using mine for demonstrations. Still, it was a lovely way to spend under two hours, and I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a calming creative break.
  • 5/5 from Nathalie Richards, attended Mar 2025: It was a lot of fun, educational and we all got a gorgeous terrarium to take home. Would highly recommend it.
  • 5/5 from Haley Cook, attended Mar 2025: Teachers were great, informative, helpful and friendly. Materials supplied were good quality with plenty of choice of plants and decorative materials. This was a gift for myself via a gift voucher. Thoroughly enjoyed this experience and would totally recommend this workshop.

RHS Chelsea Flower show Gold & Silver medalists:
The Botanical Boy started their green adventures back in 2009 while moving into East London. They renovated a water garden with no prior experience and fell in love with plants. They dove headfirst into the books and learned all they could about pruning and planting. After their first year, they were asked to join The National Garden Scheme, opened their garden to the public and learned useful tips from other fellow gardeners.
Inspired by their garden, they discovered a liking for succulent plants and container gardening in South Africa. This led them to make more and more terrariums and shared them with their friends. They soon found that everyone loved terrariums, and they started a class in their own dining room.
They love connecting people to nature and seeing their students discover their green thumbs brings the Botanical Boys so much joy and happiness. They quit their full-time jobs and started a trendy botanical shop near Kings Cross. They believe that connection to the natural world is crucial in a fast-paced world, and plants can help people slow down.
They have been featured on the BBC Great British Garden Revival, The Sunday Times, Abigal Will's The New London Garden book amongst other publications.
