Q: Where will the class be held?
Currently we’re running classes close to Oval tube station in South London. We’ll send you the address and instructions to find it when you’re booked in.
Q: What should I wear to the class?
It’s best to wear old clothes that you don’t mind getting muddy, or an apron or overalls.
Q: Should I book on my own or with friends?
Both are fine! We’ll have small class sizes (limited to 6 students) so that everyone can have the space and time they need. Everyone is welcome to book their spot!
Q: Will I be able to glaze my work?
The Mini Pottery Workshop is a single-session, but we will fire and glaze your miniature creations for you in a colour of your choice. If you want to join for a separate glazing session and help glaze the mini pots, just get in touch!
Q: When will I receive my finished piece?
Pottery takes 1 week to dry, and then will need to be bisque fired. We will then glaze the work for you and fire it again. Please allow for around 1 month from your class date. We'll be in touch when your piece is ready for collection
Q: What's the cancellation policy?
A: No cancellations, but free to reschedule up until 3 days before the class
Q: How long does the class run for, and what's the price?

What you'll do
Demo
In these one-off taster sessions, you will first be shown the core steps by instructor Tilly.
Guided Making
You will then be guided to create your own mini masterpieces on a miniature pottery wheel.
Glazing and Firing
You’ll be able to choose one work to be fired and glazed for you after the class. If you would like to fire and glaze more of your creations, you can pay per piece

Your teacher
I’m Tilly, founder of Fifty Shapes of Clay, and I've been making ceramics for 9 years. I firmly believe that everyone can delight and unwind by making things with clay and learning new skills together. I started Fifty Shapes of Clay as a personal lockdown pottery project with the aim to create pottery at home without a kiln or full size wheel. The result was self-sufficient miniature pottery all made and fired at home.
