Join a creative mending session at Sow Studio in New Cross and learn how to repair and refresh your clothes with skill and intention. This is a welcoming 1-to-1 workshop where you'll be taught different ways to mend your garments, including darning and patchwork techniques. All levels are welcome – whether you've never picked up a needle for mending before or you're looking to develop skills you already have, there's space for you here.
Bring a woven garment you'd like to work on – jeans, a linen jacket, or anything similar – or ask a loved one for an item in need of repair. The patches available range from 3cm to 10cm, giving you options for different types of mends. Over the session, your teacher will show you the techniques step-by-step, working with you on your specific piece.
The real value here is learning skills you can take home and use again and again. By the end of the workshop, you'll have a repaired item you've worked on yourself, a toolkit of mending techniques, and a renewed sense of purpose for your wardrobe. You'll leave equipped to give your clothes a longer, more creative life – turning repair into something meaningful rather than just practical.
It's a chance to slow down, learn something hands-on, and discover that mending your own clothes can be genuinely satisfying.
