Meet Prime Pass

By Phoebe Griffiths

Come along to Prime Pass, a creative newbie’s sanctuary, where the allure of art, craft and unique experiences comes alive for all!

Founded by arty visionary Ophrah, Prime Pass offers more than a fun mix of workshops – it provides a celebration of connection and special moments. Located across the UK, it invites both solo artists and groups to explore their artistic or cultural potential; from paint and sips to terrarium making and wine tasting, each workshop is a curated experience designed to inspire.

Whether you're joining a regular session or hosting a private party, Prime Pass offers a warm and friendly environment to try your hand at something new. With experienced instructors and a commitment to nurturing creativity, they’ll be your canvas for memorable moments.

Recently, we had the pleasure of chatting with Giorgia, an Italian artist and art conservator who dons the role of an art teacher at Prime Pass. Join us as we explore Giorgia’s inspiring journey and delve into the heart of this arty small business.

Tell us a bit about yourself. When did your passion for painting begin, and how  did you get started teaching?

“Hey there, I'm Giorgia, an Italian living in the UK. I'm an artist and art conservator, with a focus on archaeological conservation. I’m also an art teacher at Prime Pass!

Art has always been my go-to for expressing emotions, until I hit a major creative block which lasted over three years. The turning point came when I crossed paths with Ophrah, the founder of Prime Pass at an event I was working at in hospitality. I seized the moment, bombarding her with questions about the event and how to dive into the art teacher gig!

I jumped on board as an Art Teacher assistant for Prime Pass, but within a few weeks, I was steering my own classes. Since then, my confidence as an artist skyrocketed – the energy in those art classes is just beautiful.

I shifted my focus to motivating people to paint without fretting over aesthetic standards and through my teaching, I emphasise the message of not giving up. It's not about the techniques; it's about motivating folks to create, to dive into that world of imagination.”

Painting helps connect people…

“The colours, the atmosphere, the creativity and the freedom of expression all work together to unite people on their artistic journey.”

Creating with others is…

“There’s an evident kindness that blossoms when people come together for art in my class. It’s an inexplicable magic in the realms of art and creativity, something almost spiritual. Witnessing this communal kindness unfold, especially during collaborative art sessions, is truly special.

For me, assisting others in tapping into their creativity is more than just a role; it's a source of profound satisfaction. It opens doors to a realm where the magical interplay of art and kindness intertwines, creating a space where everyone can flourish creatively.”

Helping others tap into their creativity makes me…

“It makes me feel accomplished!”

My most heartwarming student moment ever is…

Once, some friends came to my art class to celebrate a birthday. We all had a great time painting and laughing. I noticed the birthday girl was enjoying herself, but she was a bit unsure about her painting – something I totally understood because I had felt the same way before.
I tried to encourage her, just like I did with everyone else. There was a special connection, maybe because we went through similar experiences – who knows! The atmosphere that day was amazing!
At the end of the class, the birthday girl created a beautiful painting. She came to me and gave me a super tight hug – almost too tight! Since then, she keeps coming to my lessons, and now we're friends. I'm really proud to see her progress and follow all her artwork.

The best lesson I’ve learned from a student is…

Once I took the wrong painting as an example to one of my classes; I’d used a different colour palette and thought it wasn’t as beautiful as the original, but one of my regular students encouraged me to carry on as usual. He suggested explaining the painting with its original colours, which I did, and it turned out to be an incredible session, where everyone expressed their own feelings and used a colour palette of their choice!

This made me understand that we all have different perspectives on reality and art; it’s not about the perfect design, it's about the message you want to convey to people and how you get that across.”

My favourite part of the painting workshop is…

“I actually have two favourite parts! The first is when, usually halfway through the lesson, everyone is so focused and the room is silent; everyone is connected to their creation and it’s a really mindful moment.

The second is at the end of the workshop, when we all get together for a group photo, showing off what everyone has created. It’s so wonderful to see so many happy faces with their beautiful artworks!”

We love supporting local…

“In a consumerist society where everything is based on large-scale production and mass consumption with social and ecological consequences, we believe that  supporting local small and or eco-friendly businesses is the best way to give back to  the local community!”

You’ll leave my class with...

“A big smile!”
