Hi, I'm Carol, a multi award-winning silversmith and jewellery teacher. I first went to silversmithing classes in 2019, because I was so frustrated with ill-fitting finger splints for my disability and decided I'd learn to make them for myself! I was instantly hooked on working with the metal - how it moved, and all the possibilities it held.
I work in solid silver, taking antique cutlery and upcycling it into wearable art, plus creating accessible and inclusive jewellery for people with disabilities and health conditions.
I am also a jewellery teacher and a Guest Designer on TV, where I share my knowledge and tips with jewellery makers at all levels. And I volunteer at my local Repair Café, mending people's precious and sentimental jewellery for free.
I'm thrilled to have been awarded a SmallBiz100 and IAlso100 by Small Business Britain for my work. I'm a member of the Guild of Jewellery Designers and certified by the Cultured Pearl Associated of America.
I love teaching jewellery making. It fascinates me how 8 students can all make the same project, and yet produce completely individual pieces that reflect their own personalities. People are so proud and happy when they wear their jewellery home from class, or gift it to a loved one... Pure joy!
