What you'll do
Introduction to CAD for Jewellery Manufacture using Rhino software to create a letter pendant and a solitaire ring ready for 3D printing and casting.For this class, you'll need to bring your laptop and have the 90-day free trial of Rhino installed before attending.What will I make?In this class, we will introduce CAD for jewellery using Rhino software. By the end of the session, students will have created CAD files for both a letter pendant and a solitaire ring, ready for 3D printing and casting.What will happen on the day?You will be introduced to CAD software for jewellery manufacture. We will begin with an introduction to new technologies, what can computers bring to your practise and how can you make them your ally.We will then look at how to use Rhino 3D to make models ready for casting, beginning with learning to make 2D layouts into 3-dimensional models ready for casting and ultimately making a single stone solitaire ring ready to be 3D printed and cast.The aim of the day is to give you an insight not only into how to use CAD but also what it can do for you and your business as a goldsmith.
