Kintsugi Workshop

Embrace the imperfections in this Kintsugi pottery workshop in London!

1.5 hours Class size 1 to 14 guests

£32 (£420 per class surcharge applies for private classes)

Discover the mindful art of Kintsugi in London – the Japanese way of mending broken pottery with gold. Instead of hiding cracks, this beautiful technique celebrates them, turning once-loved but broken pieces into treasures full of history and character.
In this workshop, you'll be guided through the process of repairing your chosen item step by step. Using resin and gold powder, you’ll slowly piece things back together, enjoying a calming, thoughtful activity that’s all about patience and care -- no experience required! Perfect for anyone looking for fun things to do in London.
What to expect:
  • A warm introduction to the philosophy and practice of Kintsugi.
  • Step-by-step tuition in using resin glue and golden seams.
  • Time to repair your own porcelain (vase, bowl, plate, or cup).
  • All tools and materials provided for you to use on the day.
  • A relaxed, mindful setting to enjoy some slow, creative making.
You’re welcome to bring along your own broken china to work on, but do keep in mind that bigger pieces may take longer to finish.
By the end of the session, you’ll head home with a beautifully repaired piece that shows off its golden seams – a reminder that our flaws and cracks can be something to treasure!
Good to know: For private classes, there is a £300 surcharge for groups.

Hi, my name is Claire, and I’m an artist/crafter/designer based in NW London. I run ‘Dotty by design’ making unique and bespoke hand-made products. I have been up-cycling for two decades now, and sharing my love for all things ‘craft’ through teaching and running classes. Creativity is at the heart of all the projects I work on, harnessing the joy in the making process and sharing my passion of ‘re-using, recycling and sustaining’ in everything I do.
I studied Furniture and Product design at BCUC in High Wycombe before moving to West London and working at Habitat, where my love of design had first evolved when visiting the store as a child. Since those early years, I have been on a creative journey which has encompassed all areas of art and design, including - product, craft, interiors, architecture, food, jewellery, illustration and printmaking to name but a few!
I am very much a multidisciplinary designer, where a balance of form and function is key to creating engaging sustainable products that have a conscience, and considered thought for the beautiful planet we live on.
